Spring is in full, glorious bloom (albeit a chilly bloom this morning!) in Seattle. And with that, comes a handful of performances and happenings in the world of Willow & The Embers!
I am thrilled to have been invited to perform at this year's Seattle NW Folklife. It's been a few years since I've performed at this fun festival, and the Embers and I are really looking forward to our concert Sunday, May 24th 12:20pm - 12:50pm (https://www.facebook.com/events/453378844837697/). We will be playing songs from each of my records...from Seem To Have Nothing https://soundcloud.com/misswillow/seem-to-have-nothing, to Break Your Heart Full https://soundcloud.com/misswillow/break-your-heart-full, to Radio Sky https://soundcloud.com/misswillow/01-radio-sky-3! A little 'Willow' retrospective if you will .
Speaking of things I am thrilled with... I received a lovely email this morning from KSER 90.7 in Everett, letting my know that they have put Radio Sky into their rotation! Big thanks to KSER! And to all our lovely North-end fans, feel free to send them an email or phone call and request us! DJ/Request Line: 425-303-9076, http://kser.org/about/contact
And speaking of Radio Sky, we released our Radio Sky https://youtu.be/4S5QTkprb50 video a few months ago and you can find it on our youtube.com/WillowandTheEmbers channel . Check it out and pass it on!
Kevin and I are closing in on our big move to Nashville this September. We recently returned from another treck down south, played some music and scouted out places to live, places to work, places to eat...especially love finding places to eat! While down there, we took a bit of a break from all the apartment hunting (and eating!), and recorded a new tune in the studio hallway of our good friends, David and Anika Bavas. It's defiantly 'live' - you can hear the creaking of the floor, and a train in the back ground, and a little giggle afterwards - but it's always fun to share new things. For now we're calling the tune Drummer Boy https://soundcloud.com/misswillow/drummer-boy
In addition to all of the above, we'll be performing at the Yakima Valley Folk Festival July 12th, and will be having our last Seattle concert July 25th on Lake Union. Further details on both to come.
In the meantime, thanks so much for lending your ears to our music...you make my heart full!

Happy New Year! It almost seems too surreal to believe that it's 2014! I had a lovely holiday filled with lights, beauty, love and friendship, all wrapped up in a Parisian-Manouches musical bow! But that story is too long to tell in this email, and will perhaps be told in song over the next few months.. For now, we have an exciting year of music, tours, film and recordings to tell you about! Sunday, Jan 19th we will be sharing the stage at Twilight Gallery with two sweet songwriters we met at the Austin MEOW conference - Seattle's own Sue Quigley, and San Francisco touring songwriter, Deborah Crooks. And speaking of Twilight, beginning in March, Willow & The Embers will be the featured band at Twilight's West Seattle Thursday Art Walks! The second Thursday of each month you can join us for music, art, wine and so much more at one of the hippest spots in Seattle's creative world! This spring will find us returning to Nashville to do a few shows with our good friend, David Bavas, and to head out on a little Tennessee/Kentucky/Ohio/Illinois tour! I am so very excited about this tour, having mainly toured throughout the Southwest, Washington, and Oregon, this will be brand new uncharted territory! The tour is still in the works, so if you have any spots in and around those areas that you'd like to see us at, send an email my way! It seems I may have found a new film editor to help tell the story for the Daughter of a Preacher Man documentary ! I have continued working on some edits on my own, as well as creating a few videos and 'behind the scenes' moments. The video, Wyoming, was featured on the MEOW conference web site this past fall! Please check out our Willow & The Embers Youtube Page to see what I've been up to! http://www.youtube.com/WillowandTheEmbers I have just been told that WOSfm Radio will be featuring our song, Ricordare, every Thursday for the next THREE MONTHS! Whoothoot! Ricordare will be included in the Triple A Show #2 Thursdays 4-5 PM Pacific (7-8 PM Eastern).... Here's where you can listen: www.womenofsubstanceradio.com www.wosradio.com www.live365.com/stations/breenoble (to listen and vote) Kevin and Bob and I return to the studio this evening to dust off the strings and pick through some new material. I hope to have rough recordings of these new tunes by the end of February....fingers crossed! I think that about covers all things Willow & The Embers for now. Thanks so much for your continued support of independent music, and for listening to my song! Much love and light and music to you in the new year! xo Willow
This morning I was awakened by intense sideways rain and a crazy amount wind... It is so stormy here, the crows can't even fly straight, and leaves are literally making tiny cyclones down our block. Must be November. :)
Kevin and I had a fabulous time in Austin last week at the MEOW music conference! We met some lovely fellow musicians, took part in some informative music panels, and really had a great showcase and fun time performing....and, of course, had some pretty darn good bbq too!
The band and I have just two more performance left for 2013, then we will be taking a break for the holidays and will continue to work on the Daughter of a Preacher Man documentary. If you'd like to check out the clips, videos, and the 'behind the scenes' we've been working on thus far, you can check out our Willow & The Embers Youtube Page....we've just posted a clip from an impromptu song in an Ashland OR park!
I would love, love, love to see any and all of you (although I realize that's not entirely possible since the ability to beam ones self across the country has yet to be invented) at our show Saturday, November 9th at The MIx in Seattle's Georgetown neighborhood. It has been awhile since we've performed at a 'club', and the MIx is a great room for music. And, we are playing first! Can't remember the last time the magic trifecta of performing at a music club, on a Saturday, in the first slot, has happened! So tell your friends and countrymen! The Embers and I would love to show The Mix that even 'folk-noir' can have a draw :)! All the details for the shows are below! I hope this email finds you well and that your November is filled with color, levity and beautiful music!

We have some exciting things happening here on the Willow & Ember front!
This summer I have been working with Jacob Arthur Sunday (Seattle local filmmaker/cameraman who came on the road with us last fall) on the first round of edits for the Daughter of a Preacher Man documentary. Yesterday we wrapped up viewing Olympia and now are moving on the zoom footage! - lots more to do, but it is nice to be getting it done! In and amongst the editing, I have been working on putting together several videos of the tour....sneak peaks, behind the scenes and such. The latest video I have been working on is The Ballad of Mabel McGee (http://youtu.be/vlMwuums5l8). When we were in Oklahoma on our DOP tour, we took a side-step to Ripley OK. Ripley is the little town where my grandma, Mabel, was born and raised and where she met my grandpa Charley. We filmed my song Ballad of Mabel McGee (off our record Lonesome Lo-FI Lullabyes http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/mmps) in the cemetery where my peeps are buried...it was probably 92 degrees, there were crickets and red ants, and a breeze so warm it felt like someone just opened an oven door. The Embers were sweet enough to don their finest for the event. It was one of my favorite moments of the tour! Please feel free to like, love, share :) Hope you enjoy! The other videos we've put together can be found on our Willow & The Embers Youtube page! (http://www.youtube.com/WillowandTheEmbers)
In other news... We will be returning to The Blue Moon this Saturday, August 24th! (http://www.reverbnation.com/venue/bluemoonseattle) The Embers and I will be opening the night for local singer/songwriter, Angelo DelSenno. 9pm, $5 cover, 21+
HEADING TO AUSTIN TX! We are thrilled to be showcasing at the MEOW music conference (Women in music and film) this October 24th-26th.... our showcase date, venue etc TBA soon! (http://meowcon.com) I guess that about wraps up what's been happening, and what's about to happen. Our website is in transition at the moment, but you can find updates, new songs, shows, videos etc at our Willow & The Embers Facebook Page! https://www.facebook.com/willowandtheembers Thanks so much for all your support and love! I hope August's sunshine carries you sweetly right on in to autumn! xo willow -- Willow www.willowsmusic.com http://www.cdbaby.com/Artist/Willow1 http://www.reverbnation.com/willowtheembers http://www.jango.com/music/Willow+and+The+Embers?l=0
