Gone are the days when I woke up and turned on the computer to see what my chart numbers were before I headed off to work. It was a joy to see the numbers I had achieved as I compared my chart with other artists. The goal was to be number 1. I always wondered how some artist got 2,ooo fans in a day, when i could only muster up 25 on my best day. The other artist be rising on the chart, I be struggling to keep up...ha,ha.. I could have a higher number, ie... (RN) fan count and someone may have a higher fan count on (TW) and their Total Fan count would rate them higher. WTF... could never figure out what this rating system was all about, all I know was..its a secret formula and was all over the place, woww!!! this chart is whack, this chart is crazy. Wasn't long before I figured that something was more wrong... I been telling other artist how good RN is, cause it prepares artist to understand what it takes (branding, marketing, promotion), it was a great learning tool ... no longer would someone tell them that they got signed to a major label by selling, cd's from the back of a car. With RN you learned to know better, Heard of any verifiable sucess stories of label deals from the big boys lately?, if so, It would be pasted all over the internet. Very few, if any of the big boys are handing out big deals. RN let you appreciate another artist and wish them well with their music plus other important things... like music is a business. It gave hope to indies. Most of us realize that if Beyonce's label pays mega-bucks to keep her a star surely "promote it" and doing free gigs is not going to do it for you. We all should know, that you are trying to sell your product, to mainly artist that are trying to sell their product, good luck on that one, it not going to happen. Anyone that can count know that, even if you are number 1000 on a chart that has 1 Million artist, you are in the top 1% of all artist on the chart (duh),. Where did reverbnation go? or was it there at all?
While on these indie music sites I have seen some artist asking about Collab's. At first it struck me as odd and a joy that someone thought enough of my musical efforts to want to hook up. But what I found out is that, they wanted me to send them my tracks, leave a verse open for them to do what they do, and sent it back to me.WAIT!!! If you send them your whole track...hey...they got your music. Most likely, you will hear your music again, on their site, with them taking top billing. Lets said its a hit, who can sell it? You both collab(ed) on it, You both own it (dont you), it his word against yours if their is no contracts, agreement as to song rights or percentage for the intellectual property. Sound confusing, it is, Sound like a problem, it is. Suppose the artist you Collab with lives in BIG CITY and you live in LITTLE HOOD, selling the song in BIG CITY has a better chance of making more money than LITTLE HOOD, (and you wouldn't know anything about it). In most cases, it an artist with very little sucess trying to hook up with an artist with more sucess. One of these artist has nothing to loose by Collab(ing). In fact their stock goes up with little are no afford to speak of. So do you want to COLLAB.? YES!!! I would COLLAB with Lil Wayne, Drake, Emiem etc. cause I know that their will be contracts before any collab start, everyone would know, whos who and whats what. Thats a good COLLAB.
Certified Money Gettas (CMG) music on the ReverbNation internet Network could be the 2,743,110th Best Seller at iTune, Napster, Amazon and Rhapsody .
(Petersburg,VA) – “Its a dream come true,” says Bernard Calvin. “Its only been since Feb after a 2 yr layoff it would be the 2,743,110th best selling cd and internet download on the major internet distribution services.
Certified Money Gettas debut cd, “Its our Turn”, is an amazing effort that capture the Dirty South style of HipHop. Although every song has its own flava, songs like"4Play" "Love Slave" "Talk Nasty" seems to be a Internet Hit, but you decide.
Certified Money Gettas are not veterans in the music business and have not paid their dues. They have been around the music business ever since they were small children, going with their father and grandfather to the only major recording studio in Richmond Va. The father was a sound engineer for many of the major acts that performed in the local and surrounding area. Their father co-produced the theme song for BET’s first music show “Video LP”.
One of the most exciting things to watch, is the music is getting respect as it soars on the rating charts. I know its hard to believe, but last week, it was just 2,743,111th, I know you’re thinking: we some luck guys. We get to do what, most people can only dream of, watch our climb to the top of the charts. For what it’s worth, we have close to 1 Million widget hits on Reverbnation and #2 on the local hiphop chart and #112 nationally.

I have worked under and been mentored by several people whose ears and abilities to work with iconoclastic people, from Ray Charles to Mick Jagger. I myself have worked with artist from Paul Simon to Stevie Nicks, producers from Arif Mardin to Jimmy Iovine, enginners from Tom Dowd to Shelly Yakus, executives from Ahmet Ertegun to Doug Morris. I have worked for two major labels, Atlantic Records & A&M Records, and done records for most of the majors from Columbia to Arista. In addition to records, I have worked on films, TV shows, national commercials, Broadway shows, live performances, music videos and online games.
These days I work exclusively with emerging artists in many different genres, and about 25% of the people I have worked with the the six years I have been in this particular position, have realized significant boosts to their careers. Sometimes I help by directly funneling a song or an act to a specific record label or music supervisor, sometimes I feel the artist needs a little push in the right place to make their work beyond reproach... regardless, I know how to work with and for an artist and I would be happy to do the same for YOU!! reprinted musicxray
