It gives me great pleasure to let you all know that my debut album ‘Small Town Thinking’ is due for release on Friday 20th December. It’s been a long time coming and I can’t tell you how good it feels to be sat here writing this…I just hope when you hear it that you think it was worth the wait!
The album is available to pre-order now at my website www.adamsweetmusic.com, so it’ll turn up just in time for your Christmas stocking fillers! It’s also worth checking out the website if you haven’t paid a visit recently, as it’s been completely rebuilt and is looking better than ever. To celebrate the release of the album we’re putting on a very special album launch show on Friday 20th December at The Gateway in Seaton, Devon. This is a great venue that has really supported me in recent years, in a town I have been regularly performing in ever since I was 15 years old, so it’s a real privilege to be able to do this at The Gateway. I’ll be performing both solo and with the help of some very special guests and friends of mine, including the ace Dean Barnes and the boys from my band ‘The Perfect Strangers’. The album will be available for the first time at the show, as well as an exclusive download of a recent live recording that you will receive free with each copy. It’s sure to be a great night and one hell of a Christmas party, and I would love for you all to be there. We need to know numbers, so please contact Kirstin Reynolds on 07779 786225 or email email@example.com to reserve a ticket, which will cost a fiver. In the meantime I’ve got a handful of shows left this year in and around Devon before I start making plans to take these new songs on the road next year. Hopefully see you at the launch show on the 20th. All the best,
Hey everyone, and welcome to all you new subscribers that have signed up over the summer. It’s been a great few months, and I can’t quite believe it’s October already, but looking out my window at the downpour here today there’s no question summer is long gone! Just wanted to thank everyone for their support at all the shows over the last few months…I’ve played to some wonderful audiences and the reactions to the new songs have been really exciting…so thank you!
So…the big news here is that we have finally finished recording my debut album…I know, finally! Over the last few weeks we’ve been listening to it and adding a few finishing touches, but the truth is it’s time to leave it alone…it’s done. So next week we’re heading up north to see our friend John at Mirage Studios to cast an ear over the final mix before we get it mastered. I’ve got to say I’m delighted with how its sounding, and it’s fair to say both me and Alan never expected it to turn out quite like this when we started this project last year. It’s at this point I must say a massive thank you to Alan West, who has worked countless hours with me in the studio to get the best out of me and the songs. It’s been a long journey, but one that I have enjoyed immensely, and working with Alan on these songs has been an absolute pleasure every single step of the way. It’s also been a real privilege to have been able to work with the mega talented Thomm Jutz, who in his studio in Nashville has helped us to create an album that I never thought we could make when we started out.
So all that’s left to do now is to get this thing out there so you can listen to what we’ve being doing for all these months. I’ll let you know when we have a release date soon. Keep checking the website cause we’ll be seriously revamping that soon too. Thank you for reading…I’ll be in touch again real soon with more news and that album release date…
Hi guys, Just a quick note from me to let you know about the latest goings on here... It's been a great to start to the year so far. I've been keeping busy with plenty of gigs and spending a lot of time writing and recording in between. At the shows over the last few months I've been testing out the new material I've been co-writing with Steve Black, and the reactions to the songs have been very encouraging...so thanks for that! The album is written now and the newest songs are bedding in nicely. We still need to put in plenty more hours in the studio, but I'm very pleased with how it's sounding and I can't wait for you all to hear it soon. So in the meantime we have recorded a video for “You Think You’re Lonely”, with the help of my buddies Rob Quincey and Ryan Halsey. This song will be on the forthcoming album, and is the song of Steve’s that kick started us writing together after I nicked it from him! Follow the link to check it out, and if you enjoy it please share it with your friends… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZDnnK1BNqE As for this summer, it looks set to be by far my busiest one yet, with plenty of gigs and some new festival slots coming in. More news on that later, but keep your eye on the gig list for more information. That’s all for now, I’m off to get ready for a hectic bank holiday weekend of gigs here in Devon. I’m also very much looking forward to heading to Stroud on Monday, where I’ll be joining my friends Billy Brandt and Sarana Verlin from Detroit as part of the line up for a mini Americana music festival at the Prince Albert. Hope to see you all soon, take care and enjoy the long weekend! Adam
I hope you have all had a great Christmas and are looking forward to the new year now. Just thought I'd send out a quick message to you all to thank you for your support this year. It's been a hugely enjoyable one and I can't wait to see what is in store for 2013. I am especially excited about the recording of my first studio album which is well underway now. We have taken a couple weeks off over the holiday period, but will be getting straight back in the studio in the new year to get back to work on it. We don't have a release date yet, and I am lucky to be able to work without a deadline to make sure we get it good for you. So it will be ready when it's ready I guess, but I will keep you up to date with the progress.
As for gigs, my last one of the year will be on Saturday 29th December at The Grapevine in Exmouth. I always enjoy playing in Exmouth and I'm sure this Saturday will be no exception,so I look forward to seeing some of your friendly faces there!
Unfortunately my New Years Eve gig this year at the Swynnerton in Stoke on Trent has been cancelled, so apologies for this. Looks like I might get to stay in and watch Jools Holland with a whisky or two this year...but we'll see! Whatever you get up to I hope it's a great one, and I look forward to seeing you all in the new year.
Hello friends, time for another quick update from me. It’s been a hectic but hugely enjoyable summer, meeting and playing to familiar faces and plenty of new ones too. Thanks to all of you have recently signed up to the mailing list…I will do my best to keep you all up to date with any interesting news or developments!
Live EP and New Album
My live EP ‘I Work Alone’ released a few months ago has been selling well and I’ve been getting some kind feedback from you guys. There are still plenty of copies available though so if anyone has missed out at a gig then please head over to the website where you can order one. However, while I’ll happily keep selling copies of the live EP to you lovely people the next job is to finally get to work on the studio album I’ve been threatening to do for ages now! Well, it’s still early days but the writing is coming along nicely and we have already started laying down a couple of basic guitar tracks. Now that the summer madness is starting to die down we should be able to start making some real good progress on it. I’ll keep you informed as we go along, and as we get stuck into it I’ll try and let you know how it’s gonna sound!
The summer may be drawing to a close, but there are still plenty of gigs happening this September. The last outdoor festival gig of the year will be at ‘WattsFest’ nr Uffculm, Devon this Friday 7th Sep. The following Friday (the 14th) I am very pleased to be featuring in the annual Acoustica Festival hosted by the Exeter Phoenix, and the week after that I will supporting Detroit singer-songwriter Billy Brandt at two dates in Exeter as part of his UK tour. I also have gigs throughout September at some of my very favourite local venues, including the Nags Head in Lyme Regis and the Volunteer in Sidmouth. And to top it all off I’m finishing the month with my first ever trip to Scotland for a mini six-day tour around Glasgow and beyond…can’t wait! Full details of all the gigs can be found on the website – www.adamsweetmusic.com
‘I Work Alone’…well, not always
I’ve been having a lot of fun with my rock trio The Perfect Strangers over the last few weeks, but we have a month off now until our next few outings. But for over a year now I have also been guitarist for the Sweet Black Angels, and this Sunday we are hitting the road once again to play at the official Noel Gallagher after show party in Cardiff. We are playing a set at the Tiger Tiger club after Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds finish in the Motorpoint Arena…should be one hell of a party! We still have a few spaces left on the bus, so if any of you would like to join us then please get in touch.
That’s all for now, take care and I look forward to seeing you all again soon!

That’s all for now, hope to see some of you out there in the coming weeks! Adam

Hey guys. This is the second update of the year so far…thanks for taking a moment to read this and hello to all of the new friends who have signed up to the mailing list this month.
So the main news this month is that my live EP “I Work Alone” is finally ready for you! It is a live recording of my entire set at the NEO Music launch night back in November, mixed and mastered afterwards by Thomm Jutz at tjtunes in Nashville. It came out good and serves as a great record of where my music is at this point in time. It is available now at gigs for £5, but it is also available to buy online from my website www.adamsweetmusic.com and will be on iTunes shortly. I hope you enjoy it, and that it keeps you entertained for now until I get into the studio!
In terms of gig news, there are plenty of local shows for all you Devonians coming up this weekend….
Thursday 26th – Steve Black @ The Dolphin Hotel, Beer. 7:45pm, £8. My friend and recent songwriting partner Steve Black is performing a series of one-man shows all this week, showcasing a mixture of his songwriting, comedy and story telling, and I’ll be joining him for a few tunes on Thursday night. No doubt we’ll play a couple of songs we have recently worked on, some we haven’t and probably some I’ve never even heard before!
Friday 27th – “The Perfect Strangers” live at The Axminster Inn, from 9pm. Playing with my rock band The Perfect Strangers on Friday. Was packed out last time we played here, looking forward to heading back to the Ax to do it all again!
Saturday 28th – Pavilion Theatre, Exmouth, 12pm – 2pm. Playing the first of a series of afternoon outdoor double-header acoustic gigs to be held at the Pavilion Theatre on Exmouth’s sea front. If the weather is as grim as it has been so far this week we’ll be setting up inside, but should be a great afternoon either way. Local duo The Billycocks will be the opening act.
Saturday 28th – The Volunteer, Sidmouth, from 9pm After the Exmouth gig in the day I’m heading along the coast to Sidmouth to play one of my regular venues…always a great crowd here!
Sunday 29th – Bath House, Exmouth, with Paddy Blight, 3pm – 6pm Me and my good buddy Paddy are joining forces once again! The plan is for a chilled out afternoon of acoustic music in the sun out on the Bath House patio…but who knows what will actually happen!! In the likely event that the sun doesn’t want to come out we’ll be setting up inside, and for the small number of you out there that don’t know of Paddy check out his most excellent band the Walkhards…. www.walkhards.co.uk
Anyway that’s all for the moment, plenty more news coming soon but for now I’ll look forward to seeing some of you out there this weekend!
Hi friends. This is the first in what should hopefully be regular(ish!) updates, so that I can keep you all up to date with any interesting developments and news (so long as I have something interesting to tell you of course!)…
And it just so happens that there is plenty of interesting stuff coming up, especially this weekend which is shaping up to be a pretty good one:
Firstly this Thursday 22nd sees me return to play No.10 in Bridport. Always a fun night here…one of the most intimate venues there is and a great venue to check out some quality acoustic music.
Friday 23rd see’s me team up with two brilliant local musicians whose music I love…Karl Zumar and Sam Green. I’m sure some of you have heard these names already. Well we’re putting on a triple-header gig at the NBI, St Davids Hill, Exeter. Again, another lovely intimate venue with bags of character, and I’m really looking forward to hearing how our music goes together over the course of the evening. But basically if you like your acoustic blues and folk music played with tons of passion, skill and plenty of solid grooves then you should love this one! I’m sure it’ll be a great evening, and if it goes well we may even start taking it to other venues across the region.
Finally on Saturday I will be performing my first duo gig with Steve Black. Some of you may know already that I have begun working with this superb songwriter, and in the short time we have spent working together we have been creating some pretty epic songs! So we thought it would be a good idea to start doing some shows together, the first of which will be the Kings Arms in Seaton this Saturday 24th. Its sure to be a great night, and whilst I’m still not sure exactly how the set list will pan out, I can guarantee some great new original material mixed in with some old faves!
So that covers this weekend, and in other news I have a live EP on the way. This was recorded back in November at the NEO Music launch night, purely as a bit of an experiment, and somehow we managed to come away with a complete EP! It’s a total “warts ‘n all” recording of my entire live set from the evening, simply mixed and mastered afterwards at TJTunes in Nashville. It should be back from the printers in a week or two, and I will let you know when it is available to buy. In the meantime I will send you in the direction of my new website www.adamsweetmusic.com, where you will be able to hear some snippets and order the EP once it is ready.
Anyway, this first update is draggin on far too long already, and I haven’t even got on to talking about The Perfect Strangers or the recent gig at Mr Gallagher’s aftershow party with the Sweet Black Angels, so I’ll save that for another time.
Take care for now, and hopefully see a few of you out there this weekend.
