Also, I’ll be teaming up with my good friends Alan West and Steve Black to play a couple of shows at the Ent Shed in Bedford and Hitchin Folk Club on the 1st and 2nd of November…more on that soon. That’s all for now…I look forward to catching up with some of you over the coming weeks! All the best, Adam
Hi guys, I hope that you are all well. I realise it’s been a while since my last update, so I thought it was about time I rectified that… There’s been plenty going on here to keep me busy, with all my regular gigs in around the South West keeping me out of trouble, as well as an ever growing number of shows further afield, including most recently a slot last Friday as a featured artist at the AMA UK’s 2nd annual conference, held at the Maverick Festival in Suffolk. I couldn’t stick around for too many beers afterwards as there were more gigs to be done back here in Devon, but it was good to catch up with some friends and make a few new ones along the way. There are a few more shows happening during July that are worth shouting about too… On Wednesday 16th I’m in Bristol, this time to play a new venue for me, The Gallimaufry, on Gloucester Road. This will also be my first time sharing the bill with one of Bristol’s finest, Matt Woosey…not one to be missed for acoustic blues fans. Saturday 19th I’m very excited to be returning to play at Upton Blues Festival. I made my first appearance here on the Acoustic Stage last year, and it was a real highlight for me…such a wonderful crowd! I’m delighted to have been asked back again, so be sure to come and find me back on the Acoustic Stage (Memorial Hall) at 9pm on the Saturday. At the end of the month is another new venue for me as a solo act…the Grey Horse in Kingston. A couple of months ago when I was in London I ended up sitting in on guitar with Alan West, Steve Black and Dean Barnes at one of their gigs here, but now they’re having me back on my own. I’ll be here on Thursday 31st playing from 8-10pm. As well as these I’ve still got my regular gigs here in Devon and Dorset, which this month includes The Dolphin in Blandford Forum (Wed 9th), The Angel in Exeter (Thur 17th), and my once a month Sunday afternoon residency at The Dolphin in Beer (Sun 20th). For all the details head over to www.adamsweetmusic.com/shows, where you’ll find the full gig list as always. Finally, just a reminder that if you haven’t got yourself a copy of my ‘Small Town Thinking’ album, you can order it, or download it, via the website at www.adamsweetmusic.com/music. The reviews have still been steadily rolling in over the last few months, and I must say every one of them has been a real treat to read. If you’d like to see what’s been said about it we’ve put a whole bunch of the reviews on the ‘press’ section of the website…but more importantly I hope that you guys have been enjoying it! Thanks to all of you for your continued support, and I hope to see some of you out and about this month. Cheers, Adam
Hey folks. I hope you are all well and that 2014 has been good to you so far. I figured it was about time for a quick update from me. It’s been a promising start to the year, and firstly I’d like to thank all of you who have bought a copy of my debut album ‘Small Town Thinking’ already…I hope you’re enjoying it! The reviews have been coming in, and they have made for very enjoyable reading indeed. I’m also delighted to be featured in the current issue of ‘The Blues Magazine’ as “one to watch for 2014”, and the album tracks have been getting plenty of plays on both local, national and international radio too.
Last month I had the great pleasure of accompanying my good friend, singer and the producer of my album, Alan West, as he recorded a live session with Bob Harris at Radio 2. It was a real honour to be a part of this, and along with our mate Dean Barnes on guitar we accompanied Alan on three live tracks…and had a blast getting to hang out at the BBC for a few hours! The session will be aired on Bob’s weekend Radio 2 show on March 23rd between midnight and 3am, so if you fancy a listen be sure to tune in or get it on the iPlayer at a more sociable hour I guess!
I’ve also got a few things coming up to let you know about, both local to us Devon folk and further afield…
This Tuesday (25th Feb) highly acclaimed Nashville singer/songwriter Hugh Moffatt is visiting this part of the world to play a show at The Dolphin in Beer (EX12 3EQ). Alan West, Steve Black and myself will be opening what’s sure to be a special night in this wonderfully intimate setting. There are still a few tickets available at £10, which can be reserved by calling 07773 768110.
On Thursday (27th Feb) I will be in nearby Seaton for a special ‘Steak and Blues’ night at The Shed Steakhouse (EX12 2LW). Joining me to help deliver the blues portion of the evening will be my inimitable buddy Dean Barnes on guitar. There are still a few tables left, so for more info and to reserve yours head to www.theshedsteakhouse.co.uk…I’ve already sampled the steak of course…it’s a bit good!
Next weekend sees me leaving the West Country for a few days and heading back to London for a couple of solo shows and some more radio. On Sunday 2nd March I’ll be playing a set at The Old Queens Head in Islington (N1 8LN), where I’ll be taking to the stage at 5pm. Then on Tuesday 4th March I’ll be at The Bedford in Balham (SW12 9HD) - doors open at 7:30 for this one. I’m really looking forward to playing these new venues, and if any of you are able to come along and show your support I’d love to see you there.
So, plenty happening to keep me busy for now. We’re in the process of booking more dates all over the UK, but I’ll let you know more on that soon. In the meantime if there’s anywhere you’d like me to come and play then let me know and we’ll try and add it to the list!
And if you still haven’t heard the new album yet, don’t forget you can order it or download it straight from the website at www.adamsweetmusic.com.
Take care and hopefully see you around soon,
Today’s the day my debut album ‘Small Town Thinking’ is released! Thanks to everyone who’s pre-ordered a copy already…if it’s with you now I hope you’re enjoying it and playing it loud!! If you want to get your hands on a copy you can order straight from the website www.adamsweetmusic.com, and a digital version is available to download from there too.
The album launch show is tonight (Fri 20th), aptly being held in the small East Devon town of Seaton at their splendid town hall aka The Gateway. We’ve been working hard preparing for this show and we’re all set for a great night…if everything goes to plan you’re in for a real treat! Tickets have been selling well, but if you haven’t got yours yet don’t worry, you can still reserve them today by contacting Kirstin via email on email@example.com or calling 07779 786225, and there should also still be a few tickets available on the door tonight.
So I better stop writing and go and get ready for the show…doors open half 7, and I can’t wait to see some of you there. If you can’t join us this evening I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and I’ll see you in the New Year.
It gives me great pleasure to let you all know that my debut album ‘Small Town Thinking’ is due for release on Friday 20th December. It’s been a long time coming and I can’t tell you how good it feels to be sat here writing this…I just hope when you hear it that you think it was worth the wait!
The album is available to pre-order now at my website www.adamsweetmusic.com, so it’ll turn up just in time for your Christmas stocking fillers! It’s also worth checking out the website if you haven’t paid a visit recently, as it’s been completely rebuilt and is looking better than ever. To celebrate the release of the album we’re putting on a very special album launch show on Friday 20th December at The Gateway in Seaton, Devon. This is a great venue that has really supported me in recent years, in a town I have been regularly performing in ever since I was 15 years old, so it’s a real privilege to be able to do this at The Gateway. I’ll be performing both solo and with the help of some very special guests and friends of mine, including the ace Dean Barnes and the boys from my band ‘The Perfect Strangers’. The album will be available for the first time at the show, as well as an exclusive download of a recent live recording that you will receive free with each copy. It’s sure to be a great night and one hell of a Christmas party, and I would love for you all to be there. We need to know numbers, so please contact Kirstin Reynolds on 07779 786225 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve a ticket, which will cost a fiver. In the meantime I’ve got a handful of shows left this year in and around Devon before I start making plans to take these new songs on the road next year. Hopefully see you at the launch show on the 20th. All the best,
Hey everyone, and welcome to all you new subscribers that have signed up over the summer. It’s been a great few months, and I can’t quite believe it’s October already, but looking out my window at the downpour here today there’s no question summer is long gone! Just wanted to thank everyone for their support at all the shows over the last few months…I’ve played to some wonderful audiences and the reactions to the new songs have been really exciting…so thank you!
So…the big news here is that we have finally finished recording my debut album…I know, finally! Over the last few weeks we’ve been listening to it and adding a few finishing touches, but the truth is it’s time to leave it alone…it’s done. So next week we’re heading up north to see our friend John at Mirage Studios to cast an ear over the final mix before we get it mastered. I’ve got to say I’m delighted with how its sounding, and it’s fair to say both me and Alan never expected it to turn out quite like this when we started this project last year. It’s at this point I must say a massive thank you to Alan West, who has worked countless hours with me in the studio to get the best out of me and the songs. It’s been a long journey, but one that I have enjoyed immensely, and working with Alan on these songs has been an absolute pleasure every single step of the way. It’s also been a real privilege to have been able to work with the mega talented Thomm Jutz, who in his studio in Nashville has helped us to create an album that I never thought we could make when we started out.
So all that’s left to do now is to get this thing out there so you can listen to what we’ve being doing for all these months. I’ll let you know when we have a release date soon. Keep checking the website cause we’ll be seriously revamping that soon too. Thank you for reading…I’ll be in touch again real soon with more news and that album release date…
Hi guys, Just a quick note from me to let you know about the latest goings on here... It's been a great to start to the year so far. I've been keeping busy with plenty of gigs and spending a lot of time writing and recording in between. At the shows over the last few months I've been testing out the new material I've been co-writing with Steve Black, and the reactions to the songs have been very encouraging...so thanks for that! The album is written now and the newest songs are bedding in nicely. We still need to put in plenty more hours in the studio, but I'm very pleased with how it's sounding and I can't wait for you all to hear it soon. So in the meantime we have recorded a video for “You Think You’re Lonely”, with the help of my buddies Rob Quincey and Ryan Halsey. This song will be on the forthcoming album, and is the song of Steve’s that kick started us writing together after I nicked it from him! Follow the link to check it out, and if you enjoy it please share it with your friends… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZDnnK1BNqE As for this summer, it looks set to be by far my busiest one yet, with plenty of gigs and some new festival slots coming in. More news on that later, but keep your eye on the gig list for more information. That’s all for now, I’m off to get ready for a hectic bank holiday weekend of gigs here in Devon. I’m also very much looking forward to heading to Stroud on Monday, where I’ll be joining my friends Billy Brandt and Sarana Verlin from Detroit as part of the line up for a mini Americana music festival at the Prince Albert. Hope to see you all soon, take care and enjoy the long weekend! Adam
I hope you have all had a great Christmas and are looking forward to the new year now. Just thought I'd send out a quick message to you all to thank you for your support this year. It's been a hugely enjoyable one and I can't wait to see what is in store for 2013. I am especially excited about the recording of my first studio album which is well underway now. We have taken a couple weeks off over the holiday period, but will be getting straight back in the studio in the new year to get back to work on it. We don't have a release date yet, and I am lucky to be able to work without a deadline to make sure we get it good for you. So it will be ready when it's ready I guess, but I will keep you up to date with the progress.
As for gigs, my last one of the year will be on Saturday 29th December at The Grapevine in Exmouth. I always enjoy playing in Exmouth and I'm sure this Saturday will be no exception,so I look forward to seeing some of your friendly faces there!
Unfortunately my New Years Eve gig this year at the Swynnerton in Stoke on Trent has been cancelled, so apologies for this. Looks like I might get to stay in and watch Jools Holland with a whisky or two this year...but we'll see! Whatever you get up to I hope it's a great one, and I look forward to seeing you all in the new year.
Hello friends, time for another quick update from me. It’s been a hectic but hugely enjoyable summer, meeting and playing to familiar faces and plenty of new ones too. Thanks to all of you have recently signed up to the mailing list…I will do my best to keep you all up to date with any interesting news or developments!
Live EP and New Album
My live EP ‘I Work Alone’ released a few months ago has been selling well and I’ve been getting some kind feedback from you guys. There are still plenty of copies available though so if anyone has missed out at a gig then please head over to the website where you can order one. However, while I’ll happily keep selling copies of the live EP to you lovely people the next job is to finally get to work on the studio album I’ve been threatening to do for ages now! Well, it’s still early days but the writing is coming along nicely and we have already started laying down a couple of basic guitar tracks. Now that the summer madness is starting to die down we should be able to start making some real good progress on it. I’ll keep you informed as we go along, and as we get stuck into it I’ll try and let you know how it’s gonna sound!
The summer may be drawing to a close, but there are still plenty of gigs happening this September. The last outdoor festival gig of the year will be at ‘WattsFest’ nr Uffculm, Devon this Friday 7th Sep. The following Friday (the 14th) I am very pleased to be featuring in the annual Acoustica Festival hosted by the Exeter Phoenix, and the week after that I will supporting Detroit singer-songwriter Billy Brandt at two dates in Exeter as part of his UK tour. I also have gigs throughout September at some of my very favourite local venues, including the Nags Head in Lyme Regis and the Volunteer in Sidmouth. And to top it all off I’m finishing the month with my first ever trip to Scotland for a mini six-day tour around Glasgow and beyond…can’t wait! Full details of all the gigs can be found on the website – www.adamsweetmusic.com
‘I Work Alone’…well, not always
I’ve been having a lot of fun with my rock trio The Perfect Strangers over the last few weeks, but we have a month off now until our next few outings. But for over a year now I have also been guitarist for the Sweet Black Angels, and this Sunday we are hitting the road once again to play at the official Noel Gallagher after show party in Cardiff. We are playing a set at the Tiger Tiger club after Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds finish in the Motorpoint Arena…should be one hell of a party! We still have a few spaces left on the bus, so if any of you would like to join us then please get in touch.
That’s all for now, take care and I look forward to seeing you all again soon!

A night of Blues N’ Folk at The NBI, Exeter with Karl Zumar and Sam Green After a very successful night last time, Karl Zumar, Sam Green and myself are teaming up once again to play the North Bridge Inn on St Davids Hill, Exeter on Friday 29th June. When we played here back in March the place was packed out, and I’m sure it will be buzzing again. If you’ve yet to hear Sam and Karl play their music then make sure you come and join us, and as there is so much great music to squeeze in for you it will be kicking off at 8:30pm sharp! That’s all for now, hope to see some of you out there in the coming weeks! Adam
