MA YE MA KEL (BASSA INTRO)

My Uncle Pierre Ram Sack wrote the lyrics of this song in Bassa (dialect in Cameroon). It talks about how the sun blesses the Nature, the rivers, the trees and the seas as soon as it rises and how the rain is a benediction when it falls on the red earth. "Bassa" is my father’s dialect in Cameroon, Africa. I love to sing in Bassa because this is my poetic way to share with you the African reality. Africa is a part of me and I’m proud of it. When I sing in Bassa, I refer to the stories that my father, uncle and family used to tell about their childhood in Cameroon.
