kloudworks ... the song:
It's summer and I do love this season. Especially when it is extremely hot, time slows down and massive cloud scenarios are filling the sky. Just like back in those carefree days when school was out and we were hanging on to our dreams, lying in the grass, watching the allusive plot in the sky. That's what the song is about. That's what once made me think of 'kloudworks' as a project name.
And for those who wonder: yes, I did see one of my teachers' faces in the clouds once upon a time. It wasn't my sports teacher though. I chose him for my lyrics despite since there is probably nothing as terrifying to me as a sports teacher. He was the perfect 'bad guy' needed as a contrast in the text.
I'll be off then for a while and back on RN in a week, or two, or so. …got some clouds to watch. Why don't you follow me? Fall comes soon enough :)
Thank you for all your support. Been here for almost two years now. It's been a creative journey and all your wonderful music and kind words helped me keep going. Will proceed here and with my music when temps have cooled off. See you then...
Jim (Scrumpy The Flea: http://www.reverbnation.com/scrumpythefleawithangst) once sent me those mystical lyrics of THE FLYING MICE OF AVALON. Somehow they felt different than what I'd read and heard of Jim before. Unfortunately Jim passed away before I could get busy with a song idea for his words. In fall 2012 I decided to send a layout track to some friends asking to contribute to the song. Fiona MacMahon, Joe Jaunty, Scott Sullivan and Lace Link sent me their great vocal parts, Salariatus made an intro and outro for the song and Vincent Pablo played this stellar guitar solo. Vincent also did the mastering of the final song and Boris Dommenget helped with Fiona & Scott's vocal file. The song was a journey. I thank all the mentioned artists for making this dream come true and I do hope Jim will rock along. You have influenced so many, my friend, and are still present in our minds and hearts. ~ kappi
So sad to hear the news that the wonderful Jim (Scrumpy) http://www.reverbnation.com/scrumpythefleawithangst has left us. Jim was not only a great musician. He became a wonderful friend of mine and many others here on Reverbnation. My favorite song of Jim is his 'Friends' you'll find on his page. Perhaps this song represents him best. Sometimes ironic or sarcastic in the subject yet never to people. I'haven't been in closer contact to Jim for much more than about half a year and yet I will not forget him. His humor, thoughtfulness, care and enthusiasm will be unforgettable. As always I sent Jim the new kloudworks song 'Trains' (Jim: lyrics / kappi: music) for his approval. As I found out four days after he'd left to hospital. So I wondered what to do with the song as it feels a bit odd to release it without him and on my page only so far. After talking to some mutual friends I decided to upload 'Trains' as a tribute to Jim. He once told me to do whatever I want with his lyrics. So I do. I hope Jim will like it and rock along. Still I have a couple of lyrics in the vault and might make some more songs. I hope this will be in the spirit of Jim. Ultimately 'Trains' kind of relates to Jim's latest song 'California'. A song about traveling and leaving to the unknown. So I think it makes sense to release 'Trains' here.
Thank you for all, Jim. Hope I found the right words. You'll be missed.
SOUL … a folk song ... Early September my good old friends Di & Sven asked me join them on a song called SOUL (Spirit Of Universal Love) I've known Di & Sven for about three years now. After some shared works and contribution to the 'Stages of Ages' and 'Ships of Gold' projects 'SOUL' is the first collab from scratch now. Dianne wrote the lyrics and sang, Sven played acoustic guitars, drums and sang. I played bass a little slide guitar, some keyboards and also sang. Sven did also care for the arrangement and technical aspects, mix and mastering. Dianne made a beautiful artwork that represents the song's intention. It was a pleasure to write some parts for this shared songs and to develop the whole thing together with Di & Sven. Thank you, my friends, for involving me in this lovely project. A truly relaxing and kind of 'back to the roots' experience. One year on RN today and time to say 'thank you!!' to my great collab partners for making it possible to work on, release and share music. And of course I do thank all friends, fans and supporters who come along for a listen, a comment and always encouraging input. Thank you. ~ kappi
The new song 'Pictures of Duckeldorf' was inspired by the great work of my RN friend Robin who hosts an awesome collection of aureal visions on his Biocosmos profile. http://www.reverbnation.com/biocosmos Biocosmonauting is breathing the city beat, hoping for being found by sounds and random noise, feeling inspired by what surrounds you. After Robin's songs sketching the big players London and New York City he asked me to try on an aureal sketch of my tiny hometown Duckeldorf here in the busy west of Germany. Hear people laughing, drinking, discussing our latest soccer trauma 'Balotelli' who kicked our team out of the European Footie Championship (of course, Italy was better). The precocious advice of this soccer fan what team manager Löw better should have done with German player Podolski is respectfully hidden in the mix. Enjoy the trip ~ k.

Organic, authentic and destilled. Excellent bluesy, Americana sounds. Ian Powell's 'Spirits of the South'. Enjoy! http://www.reverbnation.com/spiritsofthesouth1
*Rhesus Monkey* - Probably one of the most interesting places on reverbnation I've ever found. The kind of stuff you are unable to just listen just for a sec. Thank you, Robin, for the inspiration: http://www.reverbnation.com/rhesusmonkey
