New album is out!

My new album is out:

http://alexjimenez.bandcamp.com/album/the-acoustik-projekt

It is available by digital download only. The circumstances around it's release, after recording it over a year ago, is a long story.. one which I'll expand on later.

This was me over a year ago. Alot has changed since then (for one thing, Mark and I no longer function as a band) but it was a labor of love for the both of us, and I'm glad it's finally seeing the light of day.

My name..

After years of playing music and being in bands and collaborating with different people, it's still weird seeing my name up there all by itself. Before that it was The Acoustik Projekt, and before that fLIPSIDE, and before that, Ms.Quito... well you get the idea.

It feels better though. At first it was awkward, but all I had to do was play my songs. They sound better now than they ever had. I'm playing them now like I want to play them.. not restricted by other musicians. Don't get me wrong, I love how they sounded with the other instruments and the harmonies.. I'm a sucker for harmonies.. but I like how they've evolved and devolved, so to speak. Dynamically.. and harmonically they're different. I like that.

I'm still collaborating in a couple different projects.. a couple of duets, singing harmonies and playing guitar. I'm even in a band, a Dr. Who geek band called Sontaran Stratagem, and I'm playing guitar, singing backup harmonies and sharing songwriting duties.

But the time is right to do the solo thing too. I have a bunch of songs to play, and more in my head.. forming... ready to write :)
