The last few months have been pretty crazy around here...sometimes it is hard to remember how blessed you really are. This year has been amazing. Got nominated for a bunch of stuff in Hollywood and won Indie Music award for "Best Jazz Songwriter" for 2014 and got nominated for Texas State Musician. I'm blessed with some fun gigs, nobody died, I'm not pregnant, I scratched my mad spot, I got good folks to play music with me, written some new songs, going to the studio in the new year, have a great husband, a wonderful son & daughter-n law, cool brothers with great families, friends that I love a bunch, in-laws who are cool with neat kids and grandkids and lots of good music to enjoy. All in all what great year...hugs and blessings to all and best wishes for a joyous Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year. Hugs around ya'll
Okay...just a short rant, When folks visit on my profile, I visit back. Everyday I check to see who is on my "who viewed my profile" list I always visit back...leave a message, a play, a tweets or a comment. I answer all my messages even the "replies" ... for some specially talented folks who have been my buds for a long time I visit as often as I can and play their music 'cause I like it. I do not chase around the intermet tracking links for people...especially people who are not my fans. some folks get so carried away in their own "wonderfulness" they forget that we are all artists and time is a valuable commodity. We all scramble to be the top of the charts, I have never asked anyone to leave the RN system to help me out on another site...you can Tweet, FaceBook and email from here which I do...if I want action from folks I'll send a newsletter and ask my fans. I view myself as a real fan of a few, the rest are all "buds" musician friends and I try to respect their time. I have received a rash of messages from what I call "ignorants" folks blanket you with a bazillion links and then ask you to follow them (as if I have nothing else to do)...some of the ignorants are not even fans on my profile....use your newsletter function..and if you don't have your own fans...understand, you can't use mine. Dang it...enough
NEVER USE THE REPLY BUTTON. If you take a moment click on the picture and go to the artist's page you give them a "visit credit" on their stats...it helps them. A "REPLY" to a message sucks, big time...also some people are sooooo stupid they ask for favors in a frickin' reply. Don't ask anyone to promote you in a reply it is %+$#@^#* blatantly insulting. It's like saying "I am so much more important than you & I know you aren't doing anything so do this" If you need something, go to that artist's profile, play a song, leave a comment or share their link out. If you don't like their music...don't ask them because they may ask you to reciprocate. Also, don't ask artists to GIVE you lyrics...most all of us get paid to do that..collaborations are always shared credit....or paid up front...answer every message, even from the idiots who are too lazy to leave it on your profile but remember..."A visit always trumps a REPLY"
"I Won't Care" a MIler/Erickson original is nominated for "Best Jazz Songwriter" in the Indie Music Channel 2013 Best of the Best Awards
Temple, Texas Native Snags 2013 Indie Music Channel Awards
Judith Miller Band was honored recently in the 2013 Indie Music Channel Awards in Hollywood by being awarded "Best Jazz Artist" and "Best Jazz Producer" The Awards were held at the House of Blues in Hollywood and hosted by Chris Ewing.
Well, I'm doing some old fashion blatant self promotion today...when you have a chance go by Indie Music Channel and listen to "Kumquat""being played or watch the "Route 66 Tour" video JMB has been nominated for best female vocals and best video produced under $5,000 in their Annual Music awards contest. To see our song featured, visit: http://www.indiemusicchannel.com/?xg_source=msg_feat_track#music_player hugs ya'll
gotta new video posted. it's the footage of the Route 66 Tour....see Jim in his "pink" shirt...hugs around
well we made it so far...never, never hit the "reply" button when you get a message from ya buds...hit the "go to page" so they will get a visit credit also.
So many talented people here...I always message with "hey"...hallelujah everything's yours...which is what I truly believe, I never hit the reply button always "go to page" when I answer so messengers get a visit credit, I don't always hit a play, but "dig" when I listen. I look at all my "fans" pages every couple of weeks. Now I just need to say this cause it bugs me...even when Jim died we only missed one show. We are regrouping, but still play a decent schedule ... based on what I'm seeing...some folks never gig....okay, I understand some genres are limited, there's illnesses and temporary situations come up Singer/Songwriters who just write good stuff, but don't play out, but... sorry if this offends, I don't get it, if you are a player...go play. Even when Jim passed, we only missed one show. Disrespectful ...no, he was a true player in 20 years he never missed a gig. Can't dishonor that so... I'm finding guys out there who just want to play ...and most will rehearse for free and write charts (cause we never used charts) ...it ain't perfect, but it's better than sitting at home watching the boob tube. Go play...it gives you freedom...if you are in Austin and ya need a guitar player...I now know some good ones, piano players... oh yeah...good percussionist, oh yeah and a really great improvisational horn player. Go play...enough said...hugs around
