Just in case you haven't heard, Forever Town is one of the hottest new bands to hit the Austin music scene. Anchored by singer/songwriter Danny Ramsay, Forever Town spits prolific, truth-seeking messages against a backdrop of slick, bluesy back beats and full frontal musical assaults. It's what rock and roll was meant to be. Drummer and brother Jayson Ramsay has a stone cold, sledge-hammer playing style that might conjure Led Zeppelin legendary beatmeister John Bonham. Add bassist Danny Grochow's thick and sticky bottom, and the music has a way of causing spontaneous head-banging.
"This is the best group of musicians I have ever been involved with," said Ramsay, a recent arrival to the Austin area from New Orleans and the Mississippi Gulf Coast. "The approach with Forever Town is to take the heaviness of the original Black Sabbath - infused with a bluesy, Southern swagger, topped off with a spiritualized message like Chris Cornell or Pepper Keenan would do. Those guys are major influences for me."
Forever Town also has a demo CD by the same name. The debut offering has a host of great songs - and one genuine masterpiece with the kind of depth only heard by the cream of metal bands - The Anti-Sleep. In this song alone, with its subtle acoustic riffs and mesmerizing melody, Ramsay establishes the simple truth that he is a songwriter to be reckoned with.
In addition to his songwriting, Ramsay is a singer and guitarist of considerable talent. One of those rare individuals who can actually drive a three-piece ensemble, and with Forever Town, he has the cast to compliment his unique abilities. - Charles McClure- Austin American Statesman.
