Endure Sound Doctrine? 2 Timothy 4:3,4

One of my brothers in the faith asked me a question. "What did I get from God in my study on this passage?" Thought I would share it with the rest of my brothers and sisters in Christ! God bless u!

2 Timothy 4:3,4 (Endure Sound Doctrine!)

3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.

Well in this passage Paul is warning Timothy about the dangerous season of this age in which we can apply this same teaching 2day 2 our lives because the same thing happens here in this generation 2day.

Paul says there will be times when people will not want to hear rebuke or be directly confronted of their sins (for some reason they think this is judging), will not endure conviction but will actually run or turn away from it!

They will not want to be convinced of the Gospel but will rather want to hear messages on what THEY can get or what THEY want to hear that will make them FEEL GOOD. A selfish message that only benefits THEM and NOT GOD! (hence tickling itching ears feels good, lol)

They will want preachers that will not "rain on their parade" who will NOT preach against their SIN, and will be turned aside to all kinds of false idealogies, worldly knowledge and quotes and philosophies, weird kinds of "strange teachings" (astrology) and all kinds of non-sense!

They would rather have "gifts" but not the "giver". They would rather have "salvation" but not "repentance". This is the kind, that will find a church based on their "personality" rather than "Sound doctrine" from the Word of God!

But we are urged (ministers) to preach the gospel as Timothy was warned, in and out of season! Do the work of an evangelist and endure the afflictions that come as a result, of doing so.

-Hope that answers your question brother ;-)
