I have collected some opinions on the topic ‘creativity’, and have to thank all the kind friends that gave a great response – here are some of the great thoughts I received:
Lyrically I would say at least the first few lines come from something emotional or something I have strong feelings about. It may only be a line or two and then a more technical process may take over from there, but if I still don't feel an emotional connection to my original idea it the song may get shelved for years. I have notebooks full of incomplete lyrics or lyrics that I've lost an emotional connection with. I don't do many instrumentals like you Fede, but when I do play them they are usually some little melody that fits an feeling that I am feeling and then technique takes over expanding on that melody.
Mike
For me somethings are just like that because I am experiencing great thought through life's circumstances about the thing which then becomes a song...part of my reflections on the issue. The music end, at times, develops from this... or I am just getting lost playing and happen upon something that works. Then the lyrics come forth from the music or else I hit my writings for I am ever writing poetry or my thoughts down.
Scoring for a filmtrack is very different because the images you see before you causes you to respond musically to enhance the visual experience.

" Thoughts are evoked by outside stimuli and thus evoke emotions of various ranges. When working on a specific theme of creativity you want to feel the emotion to be able to create the instrumental mood as well as the lyrics. The technical approach is what is asked of you or what you ask yourself"what is it I want to say/convey?"That is used by the thought process. Where the emotional part takes hold, is the outside stimuli, that makes you feel, see, hear and process the emotions to help you create the song/piece of work you are creating.Too many outside influences can either break or help enhance your creative ability to successfully complete your task. For example: You cannot concentrate on a beautiful peaceful song if there is a lot of violence or fighting going on around you. However if you see or hear something you can get inspired to write about that particular thing.I believe that the emotional part is definitely dominated by the thought process but it also has the outside stimuli that directs the thought process.".... This is just my opinion.
Debbie
I know that it is a mystery to me.
I also know it involves two basic factors: the conscious and the subconscious.
A large factor for me is personal experience over time (practice makes perfect) and the amount of "openness" to whatever is coming out (confidence in my self).
Trial and error is also a large part in it. As you know, things don't always work every time.
Patience is a virtue here.
Jim Robson.
As a comedian, it is often an observation or situation that I find funny...and 99% of the time IMMEDIATELY, without thinking about it much, I create a comedy. In this case there's not as much 'technique' involved as it is simply spontaneous combustion of humor!

Hello to everybody !!!!
Today I want to go on with the ‘creative process’ matter – and after speaking about the covers, I want to speak about creativity-
When we compose something (music, writings, etc) we have a kind of inspiration – but how much we ‘think’ about this composition and how much we ‘feel’ it ?
I explain better: when you compose there’s an idea that must produce feelings, emotions – how much the ‘technique’ is involved ?
And if you compose for a movie, the thoughts are dominant ?
I thought it could be great to have your opinions !!! Please let me know -
See you soon
