NPR radio Session

The other day we went in to the studio at WOSU 89.7 fm to pick some tunes and chitty-chat w/ Bluegrass Ramble host Jake Young. Jake's the newest host on the longest running (years back into the past), longest running (hours of banjo per week), most beloved bluegrass radio show active today. (Well not today, it airs saturdays and sundays 6pm-12night) Since he's joined the team, Jake's made it his mission to bring the listeners closer to the players of bluegrass in central ohio, pretty healthy attitude for a figure in the media. The myth is that there USED to be a bunch of great bluegrass in ohio, but the strength has migrated to other places around the country. I've been guilty of perpetrated this same reduction. In truth, I'm surrounded by assassins (of the smiling bluegrass music playing variety). So, Jake thought we should come in and play a little bit for the Can, give him something special for his next show. We were thrilled to do it. We played a bunch of the old songs; John Hardy, Down the Road, Reuben... It was great fun. You can hear the results by tuning into wosu 89.7fm saturnday nov 26 from 6-midnight, streaming live at WOSU.org, we'll probably make up some CDs to spread around too, it sounded pretty good.
