A new single from Frank Piombo smooths the mix followed by a track from Jamie Bonk's latest fine CD 'Necessity' the track reminds us of Fleetwood Mac in style but you be the judge. The Robert Lee Revue wraps 'Fourplay' up with a track from the CD 'For The Love of Smooth Jazz'.

Its a chart full of new entries this week including a track from Roger Smith featuring Dave Koz and the Temptations. There is UK representation from Zee Gauchette, Ed Barker and Scotlands David King. A special shout out to KJazz Radio UK for their support playing great indi music for all to listen to. Keep on voting every week to keep "We Come Together" at #1. God Bless

When I Think About.

When I think about the Trumpet my favorites are Miles Davis, Donald Byrd and Tom Browne. There are many others I enjoy and appreciate but these three helped me to understand the instrument and music in forms that transcended the norm. Sam Hankins now joins my list. The sound of his Trumpet is actually a melodic rhythmic motion that captures the groove beyond the beat. This is music, not the usual formula of I heard that before. This is jazz in it's new form, free, expressive and without limits. Sam speaks through his horn and if you listen closely you will join the conversation. I rank Sam Hankins amongst the greats and you truly will not be disappointed. His music is a must have for your collection! Hank Howe KJZZ Digital Radio Inet Jazz 365

Peter Alexander Shields Cd Review "Nothing Between Us"

Hi Sam

Just to let you know I reviewed your CD on Amazon.

I did it via a lovely wee story about a friend of mine who swears he doesn't like Jazz :-)

I titled it : TUNEFUL JAZZ

I had a friend who said he could never really get into Jazz because he found it too monotonous and there was always a distinct lack of an actual tune. No amount of gentle persuasion would coax him out of his stuborn denial. He didn't like Jazz and that was that. I first heard Sam Hankins via a social networking site - a music group infact - where songs are posted and members get the chance to comment on work and interact socially. As soon as I heard the first track by Sam, which is, coincidentally, the first track on the album, and the title track, NOTHING BETWEEN US, I knew I was listening to a very special and versatile musician. Sam's music is laced with gorgeous melodies over a canvass of amazing grooves and instrumentation - which is always ultra sensitive to the " vocal " melody - and I say vocal melody, because Sam uses his trumpet like a human voice - he sings to us with gorgeous clarity and tone. I am not going to give an in depth critique of individual tracks - but suffice to say - Sam Hankins speaks to the listener with a wonderful dextrous precision, his melody lines are swathed in deep emotions and, at times, a charming wit. Nothing Between Us is already a huge favourite album of mine - the production is outstanding and ...... oh yes, I played a few tracks to my friend and his response was " Well, yeah, I love this - but this isn't the kind of jazz I meant, this has great tunes " ............. I guess I may never fully convert the Jazz denouncer - but at least I have proved a distinct weakness in his prejudicial denial. If you are looking for a brilliant new addition to your music collection - oh yeah, and even if you are not the greatest fan of Jazz, then buy the album - anyone who loves superb instrumental music will adore this gem of a CD.

I hope it meets with your approval bro X Pete X

Nothing Between Us- Cd Review.

"Nothing Between Us": Don't let the smooth vocal introduction, soon followed by bumpin' beats fool you...They both set the stage to massage your auditory senses into overdrive when Sam's stellar trumpet stylings, rich instrumentals, airy background vocals and an up-tempo groove join forces, creating a sexy 'n' swingin' atmosphere in this Smooth Jazz track that you'll not forget!
