Mexican Music

I would like to share one of my live performance video from my new album to be released in 2013. I feel honored to be representative of my Mariachi music here in the USA. The album has been in construction for much time with calaborations with Jalisco Mariachi composer & director Salomón Hernández Carrera from Veracruz Mexico. In 2011 Mariachi music was added to the list of Intangible Cultural World Heritage in need of preservation. "Mariachi is a traditional music and fundamental element of Mexican culture, transmitting values, heritage, history and different Indian languages," the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation said. The list aims at ensuring "better visibility of the intangible cultural heritage and raising awareness of its importance while encouraging dialogue that respects cultural diversity," according to UNESCO. Please educate yourself and your audience about Mariachi music and its value to everyone. Thank You All for your support. Love Lily Cortes

Latin Jazz has been eliminated from the Grammys !

NEW YORK, NY - If it wasn't bad enough to be bad-mouthed by Republicans and ignored by Hollywood, Latinos have now come under attack by the music industry. On April 6th, 2011, the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) announced that they were eliminating the category of Latin Jazz GRAMMY as part of a "restructuring" whereby the total number of categories to be recognized was reduced to 78 from 109. But, the number of distinct artist entries was increased from 25 to 40 in each category.
