Bracken Hale / Blog

Just got the word that the Bracken Hale band we will be playing Poodie Fest at the Backyard on Sunday, June 26! We're not sure about the time slot yet. I will also be backing Michael Shane Borden on bass during his set and again later at the after party at Poodie's Hilltop in Spicewood. This show is a benefit for HAAM, SIMS foundation and AMP. On the bill will be Gary P. Nunn, Billy Joe Shaver, Larry Joe Taylor (who will be headlining the late show at Poodie's Hilltop that night). Come on out and let's honor the memory of Poodie by raising money for a good cause!

Thursday Night

Thursday, Beau and I will be in Lampasas playing with Derek and Joe Manuel at the Lucky Ranch Grill from 9-12. I'll be back on bass (I've been playing the Danelectro '59 longhorn latley). If you're in the neighborhood stop on in. It's a fun show and super casual. Take care, Brack

Just had a great night at Poodie's. The regular band, Chris Fannin, Beau Johnson and Eric Hisaw honkytonked like the rapture was coming. We were also lucky to have Derek Groves sit in as well. By the way, he'll be subbing for Eric next Monday as the lead man. I heard Tessy Lou at the Saxon early tonight and she and the band sounded like a million bucks. They really impressed me, and what a nice group of people, too. Keep an eye out for them and hear them when you can. I'm excited for Thursday... Beau and I go to Lampasas to play with Derek and Joe Manuel (guitarist for Merle Haggard/George Strait). We've been doing every other Thursday at the Lucky Ranch Grill and it's been lots of fun! Hope all is well out there. See you soon, Bracken

First entry

Hi everyone. The cds should be here in a few weeks. Things are rolling along. We had a great Memorial Day show at Poodie's and stuffed ourselves with Jack's famous brisket. The band has been Beau Johnson, Eric Hisaw and Chris Fannin, with Keith Davis or Danny Hawk sittting in on occasion. Beau and I have played in several bands together, most recently working for Gary P. Nunn from 2007-2011. Beau and Chris have played together before, and we all share a west Texas connection: Their band and mine were playing some of the same clubs back in the mid nineties. Eric Hisaw is an americana singer-songwriter/guitarist who we are lucky enough to have helping us on lead right now. He also produced my record for me and did an outstanding job. On his own he has about four really great albums under his belt. The latest "Ghost Stories" is out any day now. I'm backing him up on bass at Sam's Burger Joint in San Antonio this Saturday! We have a steady Monday gig at Poodie's and should be back at the Saxon Pub very soon. I'll keep you posted. Also, I've uploaded four songs from the record... hope you like em! Bracken
