Red Light Survival / Blog

November 18th 2010

Greetings Red Light Survival fans,

It's official, RLS's debut album is in the hands of the distributors. If all goes as planned, the album should be available for download at iTunes, Amazon, CdBaby, Rhapsody etc. etc. before Thanksgiving! Hopefully our cd's will be available before Christmas. If you are interested in cd's or stickers, drop us an email at redlightsurvival@gmail.com ... we'll see what we can do to get you taken care of. Thanks again for all the support. We really do have the best fans in the world!!!

What will come of RLS after the album release? That question has already been answered. The boys are already hard at work on a follow up. The first song "To Do List" is already done! As usual, we'll be hitting the studio hard ... writing, recording and pushing forward. Jason has some ambition plans and continues to inspire and motivate the band.

NEW MEMBER NEWS!!! Red Light Survival has always been blessed with gifted friends willing to lend us their talents. With the help of Liz Banning, Renee Taylor and the technical advice of Mark Maier, we have managed to push our music to another level. Now we have a new permanant member that is already taking RLS to new heights! Grant Coito is an accomplished bass player that has played and recorded with Art Of Explosion, Skys Of Fire and was a founding member of the now legendary NorCal band Long Drive Home. Grant has been a longtime friend and is now part of the RLS family!!!

Greetings Red Light Survival fans, I'm happy to report we have some news regarding our first album release, "All That Remains ..." The final lineup of songs have been recorded and mixed. All that remains (pun intended), is some post production work and the final artwork. We will be pressing a limited number of CDs and will have the album available for download on iTunes. Hopefully a release date will be announced soon. Sometime in October?!? What will come of RLS after the album release? That question has already been answered. May 25th

Greetings RLS fans, As June is approaching fast the boys in Red Light Survival are continuing to work hard to wrap up the last few songs on a future CD release. The recent posts of Firecracker and Tidal Wave are just the tip of the iceberg. Still in production are The Act Of Losing Face and a yet to be titled track. Once the last couple of songs are complete, we still have the arduous task of mixing and mastering(The songs posted are really rough, compressed mp3 versions ... the quality of the actually CD will be much better). We appreciate everyone's patience and support! Anthony w/RLS If you haven't done so, check out the two most recent song posts: Firecracker Jason Banning - Vocals, Guitars, Organ and Tambourine Anthony Cancilla - Mandolin and Guitars Jeremy Hoffman - Drums Dan Pera - Bass Renee Taylor - Background Vocals Tidal Wave Jason Banning - Vocals and Guitars Anthony Cancilla - Guitars Ryan Mutchler - Drums Dan Pera - Bass Renee Taylor - Tremelo Vocals

April 24th

I know it might seem like it to most, but RLS has been busy and productive in the last few weeks. Three new songs are just about to be posted. That brings us to nice even number of ten songs ... maybe we should just stop there? ... of course that isn't going to happen. 2-3 more songs are in the pre-production stages as I type this. If you want to hear more about the new songs, stay tuned and sign up on the RLS mail list. Updates and and studio notes are posted every so often.

Do have a question or comment for RLS? You can post on the ReverbNation page or FaceBook page ... if you prefer to email, you can send it to redlightsurvival@gmail.com ... We try to answer every comment and email with in 24 hours.

Friday April 1rst.

We would like to take a moment to thank all of our fans for being so supportive and keeping us at #1 on the ReverbNation Local Alternative chart. In case you haven't done so, please sign up for our mailing list at ReverbNation. We will keep you updated with upcoming song and video releases. Our MySpace friends have been doing a great job of spreading the word as well ... One fan in particular, SarahJane from the UK, has been kind enough to promote our music from her neck of the woods. Fans like this make us want to write and record even more. Thank you SJ for supporting our project! If you would like to hear more from RLS, you can catch up with us on FaceBook, Twitter, MySpace and of course, ReverbNation. We welcome emails and comments. Thanks again for listening! Monday March 28th, 2011

Like everyone else, it's Monday for RLS too. Everyone is back working their day jobs, counting down the minutes until we can get back into the studio and record. A common conversation had amongst the band members ... "I wish we could write and record for a couple of weeks without any real life interruptions". Thankfully, progress is being made when time permits.

Thursday, Jason and Anthony starting rehearsing for yet to be titled track that will feature mandolin. Also, new guitar parts for Tidal Wave were auditioned.

Saturday, Dan, Jason and Anthony went to a local watering hole and enjoyed listening to Mark Maier's Band, Moment's Notice.

Sunday's session was canceled do to conflicting scheduling. Anthony did get a visit from Jennifer F (an extremely talented writer, singer and instrumentalist ... Check out Lona In The Wolf on Myspace). Jen is a fan of RLS and has offered her talents on a session. The piano/organ part she has come up with for The Act Of Losing Faith sounds incredible!

We hope everyone has a good week. Stay tuned for more updates.

Studio outtakes: How songs become what they are ...

RLS is currently uploading a video that features Jason and Anthony mixing, discussing and creating 'Ghost Of Your Heart'. To most this going to be kind of boring, but to those interested in audio production and the creative process, it's worth a watch. As the video unfolds you can see how a song begins to write itself, drawing inspiration from it's own conception.

Mark Maier ... Thank You!!!

RLS wants to give Mark Maier in Lodi a big thank you!!!! He not only loaned us a bunch of great gear (Neve! Neve! Neve!), he also gave us some great information and pointers on recording and mic'ing instruments and vocals. Thanks Mark for all the help and support!!! --- RLS

Friday Thoughts ... 3-18-11

Well It's Friday and we are still number 1 on the local ReverbNation Alternative Chart. Less than 2 weeks online and over 1000 listens, almost 600 hits and 117 fans. We have made some new friends all over the world ... Pennsylvania, Florida, Missouri and England and Russia. Jason and I were discussing this last night ... this is the first musical project we've done that actually feels like we are being heard. We make music because we love it ... because it is part of us. Thanks to our families, friends and fans ... something that is very important to us, became something extra special. Anthony - Red Light Survival
