Tempo, cadence, catchiness, metaphors, universal ideas, marketability, all are important things in the art and business of music. But after the impromptu Skype call tonight with long lost friends who occupy a sacred and sweet corner of my memories, I was reminded again what is important in life: Love, friendship, and investing in others. I thank God for His little reminders out of nowhere that pull me back in line with what really matters. Because after all, when life is over and the music fades, it is greater to have a legacy of friends/family that touched you and were touched by your life, than a catalog of songs that merely talk about it. Go call somebody that you love, but haven't told in a really long time. I'm going to bet they need to hear it. Much love. Todd
It seems creativity is a lot like rainbows. When storms are the most violent and harsh, the rainbow is more brilliant. In light of that, it is difficult for me to completely avoid situations that I know will be harsh, because I know inevitably, that inspiration and creativity are bound to follow.
