DREAMS

I started writing songs almost 35 years ago. I wrote for the same reasons most guys start writing for: it was a way to communicate my heart to another. Very soon after I began, I found I really enjoyed turning a phrase in a fresh new way; creating a verbal image and matching it with just the right melody to bring the desired effect on the listener's heart. I began studying others and their circumstances. I tried to place myself in their shoes and then write from their perspective. I LOVED doing this writing thing!! Soon enough, I had to make decisions about my future. I loved the military; 3 years of R.O.T.C., AND I scored very high on the ASVAB. I love Jesus; I wanted to minister. AND I love music. My mother told me when I said I wanted to go to seminary, "Ministers don't make a good living, you should stick with music".....LOL!!! Boy was she right about the ministry! BUT, music hasn't been a windfall either! In the end, I was a music major for 2 years, transfered to music business for 3 more. I enlisted in the Army. AND I graduated from seminary. I have had a full and rich life. Michelle and I have 7 children, 5 boys & 2 girls. ALL are involved in music. I have had the privilege of cowriting songs with 4 of them. All have been or are involved in ministry. I have had songs recorded by other artists (1 was #19 on the European Country Gospel charts) including 4 alleged Waylon cuts in the 80's (the songs were never released). I put aside my music for a number of years to provide for our family and concentrate on 'raising them up in the nuture and admonition of The Lord'. Now, I have a song being played on major market radio. I am # 34 on one Indie chart, #1 locally on another and have had over 11k plays in the past year. My songs are being listened to around the world, thanks to the internet. I'm still writing new songs, though not as prolific, I hope they are stronger in content. I have seen one of my songs draw 7 encores in a worship service ( my hands were sore!!) while the Spirit moved through Don's voice. I have been BLESSED. And I still am. This is not a moment of bragging for me; this is me counting my blessings and thanking those who have supported me all these years. I could not have gotten this far without the Grace of God and all of you He has placed in my life. I am so thankful to you all for putting up with my quirks and outlandish personality. When I lost Mama 21 years ago, and then Diddy 11, I never thought anyone would believe in my music that strong again. But Michelle does; and so do our kids. And many of you that will read this do. Thank you so much! I am thankful y'all are in my life. I love you all. Mitch
