The Concept and Theme of Algarothsyum

I'd like to explain the idea behind the theme and concept of Algarothsyum. I emphasize on this theme because I want it to be the drawing factor to my music. The concept is a pretty important factor, because I'm not one to just throw songs together and release them. It's not how my brain works. The theme that the project's music is based on is a post-apocalyptic one. Imagine the world in a wasteland setting after worldwide nuclear devastation. A very tiny fraction of the population survive such a catastrophe. Major cities and suburbs are destroyed. Lakes are dried up. Roads are beaten, battered and worn. Society, common law, and government have all collapsed. Months and years pass after the destruction occurred, and the few strong that have survived have learned to adapt and live in the wasteland. You get the idea. The concept for Algarothsyum is an ongoing concept, where each release will essentially be a chapter in the story of survival in a post-apocalyptic world. Some releases will move forward chronologically, and there will be a few releases that will serve as prequels to the tale. But the main thing is that they will all be related. I don't have a set number of releases planned. I'll simply keep rolling with it until it has nowhere else to roll. I have a strange, almost unhealthy obsession with the post-apocalyptic theme. It branches out to many medias, like films, video games (like the Fallout series, of course!), art, literature and so on. Why do I love it so much? I don't have a definite answer, really. I think we all can agree that the threat of nuclear eradication is pretty scary. But imagining life afterwards, as horrible as it probably would be, is fascinating. Those who survived the onslaught; those who where strong enough and smart enough to make it through. It's Darwinism in a way, I suppose. That kind of story is intriguing to me, and I want to portray it through my music. The very bleak, dark atmosphere; the possibility of it being a haunting reality. It makes for great death metal! Now don't worry, I don't appear to be obsessed with such things. If you meet me or have met me, I probably appear to be pretty regular. I don't walk around wearing a gas mask, or preaching "THE NUCLEAR APOCALYPSE IS NEAR!" or anything like that. I'm just a dude who loves post-apocalyptic fiction, and wants to portray his own version of it. I approach my music with a very instrumental approach. I concentrate on providing the dark, wasteland atmosphere with the instruments more than with lyrics. Lyrical content will sometimes be a little thin in my music. But the goal of this is to let you, the listener, paint your own mental image of the post-apocalypse. Let the music and its atmosphere be the catalyst. I'm a very visual person. I'll see the setting in my head, and try to recreate it with the music. With that said, I hope you enjoy my music, and I hope you look forward to future Algarothsyum releases. I have big, big plans for this project. The 2011 demo "Spiraling to Realization" is only a mere peek into what will be a very vast, expansive world.
