From Prestatyn to Kauai Rocks...

Come and Join Mike Peters in Hawaii for Kauai Rocks 2011 and celebrate 30 years of Mike Peters and Alarm history at a special Love Hope Strength Foundation concert on Tuesday August 23rd where Mike will be joined by such musical luminaries as Billy Duffy, John Oates, Donavon Frankenreiter, Shawn Colvin and more. Alarm fans who make the journey to Hawaii will have the opportunity to help choose the songs Mike performs throughout the day and take part in shaping an up close and personal performance event that will honour 30 years of Mike Peters and The Alarm songwriting history that began with 1981′s ‘Unsafe Building’ and continues to the anthemic signature tune ‘Love Hope & Strength’ of modern times.

KAUAI ROCKS Kauai Rocks is a combination of the passions of Mike Peters and Donavon Frankenreiter. Mike, a 2-time Leukaemia survivor and now lead singer of 2 bands the Alarm and Big Country, met Donavon, a champion surfer and world renowned musician who calls Kauai home, when they summitted Mount Fuji together to raise money for Love Hope Strength(LHS). Donavon, after seeing firsthand the global impact LHS has had on cancer care, has extended the hand of friendship and invited artists from all over the globe to join Donavon and Mike on this magical island of Kauai, including Billy Duffy, John Oates, Shawn Colvin, Miles Zuniga (Fastball) and many more.

Kauai Rocks, will be an event in which the entire community of Kauai will join in a celebration only Love Hope Strength can provide. 100% of all proceeds from this once-in-a-lifetime concert will benefit community cancer care on the island. In the days following on from the concert there will be a host of opportunities to experience Kauai at it’s best including the KAUAI ROCKS – HANAKAPIAI FALLS HIKE: A phenomenal Mike Peters lead adventure to celebrate the finale of Kauai Rocks on Saturday August 27th. Hanakapiai Falls is a four-mile, strenuous hike from the Kalalau Trailhead in Ke’e Beach to Hanakapiai Valley on the Napali Coast.

GRAND FINALE LUAU Mike Peters and friends will close out Kauai Rocks with a traditional Hawaiian feast and party – luau style! A Hawaii Luau is the celebration of the aloha spirit. All of the Kauai Rocks team will participate in local hula, singing and fire dancing on the 60-acre “Common Ground”, a showcase for sustainability serving the community through its programs, products, services and venue. Includes special performances by our Love Hope Strength musicians. If you would like to attend, please email shannon@lovehopestrength.org for further details and to tailor your perfect travel / accommodation and fundraising requirements.

WHY KAUAI? Cancer sees no color, race or religion. Hawaii, home to the most ethnically diverse population in the United States, is the perfect backdrop for our global fundraising efforts. The week will begin with incredible music-filled adventures and events that will highlight the native culture and island beauty and challenge you both physically and mentally. The proceeds from these events will benefit the Love Hope Strength foundations global cancer programs and initiatives such as our GET ON THE LIST campaign. The week will include a concert in which the entire community of Kauai will join in a celebration only Love Hope Strength can provide. 100% of all proceeds from this once-in-a-lifetime concert will benefit community cancer care on the island. The Hawaiian Islands are the Earth’s most isolated parcels of land lying in the middle of the North Pacific Ocean some 2400 miles from the nearest continental land mass of North America making access to modern cancer care limited at best. The Island of Kauai lacks such basic needs as a full-time resident oncologist. With limited resources on the Island, locals are left with the expensive option of traveling to Oahu or the mainland of the United States for advanced care.

New Alarm album and single The Sound and The Fury

30th ANNIVERSARY ALBUM / FILM EDITION & CD SINGLE The Sound And The Fury is the brand new album and film from Mike Peters & The Alarm and is available to order now. Released simultaneously with the brand new single "Unbreak The Promise" (featuring the sound of Alarm fans from all over the world – The Alarm Choir), The Sound And The Fury can be seen and heard on the accompanying video exclusively at www.thealarm.com. The album (and accompanying film), is centered around 12 brand new recordings of songs that have been written at various stages throughout Mike Peters’ 30 year songwriting history. From "Unbreak The Promise" (which was originally written in 1982), to "Peace Agreement", which was first conceived as part of the Poppy Fields Collection in 2003. Other stand out tracks include "Fade In Fade Out Fade Away", and ‘'Shelter’' which were both performed during the recent 30th Anniversary UK tour. There is also a '‘new’' song called '‘Strength To Strength’' which was originally an unfinished Mike Peters / Eddie Macdonald song that began life during the 1987 ‘'Eye Of The Hurricane’' sessions. Other reworked songs include a stunning version of ‘'The Rock’' and an explosive '‘Who’s Gonna Make The Peace?" along with a ''first ever’' studio version of ‘'For Freedom’'. Mike Peters says, '‘I felt it was important that we should adopt a forward-facing approach to the landmark date of the Alarm / Mike Peters’ 30th Anniversary. I had the idea to bring together songs from all the eras that I have been a published recording artist, and approach them as brand new songs, starting with the way I performed them during last year’s Direct Acoustic tour”. The new CD single ‘'Unbreak The Promise’' will also go down in the band’s history as the longest running Alarm single ever, with the five tracks collectively clocking in a running time around the 40 minute mark. The CD single features the title track plus 3 acoustic medleys each containing verses and choruses of ten songs from each of the three decades of Mike Peters’ songwriting career so far, followed by the ‘live’ version of ‘Unbreak’ from The Gathering 2011 that also features the voices of The Alarm Choir. The 30th anniversary edition of the album is released with an accompanying 90 minute '‘fly-on-the-wall’' documentary by film maker Andy Labrow that shows Mike and the band putting the album together from concept to completion. “I was actually amazed at how revealing this film is”, says Mike Peters, “I’d forgotten the cameras were there and it really does show the inner workings of both mine and the band’s creativity and how each and every track came together in what was one of the best ever recording sessions I have ever experienced”. The CD cover features the iconic Alarm guitar 30th anniversary logo (that was designed by Mike Peters himself), a superb booklet created by Karl Parsons with exclusive photographs and the names of each and every member of The Alarm choir that sang with the band at The Gathering 2011. To order please visit the new Alarm store at: http://thealarm.myshopify.com/index.htm Sound And The Fury CD/DVD £19.99 + postage Unbreak the Promise CD £4.99 + postage Special Offer – Purchase both the album and the CD now and qualify for free delivery.
