Oblivion Myth to open for Hellyeah!
Oblivion Myth are honored to have been asked to share the stage with the supergroup, "Hellyeah" at Exit/In in Nashville on Thursday, May 23rd.
"I can't believe we'll be opening for guys who have been and are still making music with the likes of Pantera, Nothingface and Mudvayne. This has been a great year for Oblivion Myth already having shared the stage with Adema and Theocracy. We can't wait to see what other opportunities are coming our way!" stated frontman Ray LeGrand.
Also on the bill are Nashville's own Voodoo Prophet who will be embarking on their "Welcome to the Apocolypse" tour this summer.
Tickets can be purchased using the attached link. We hope to see you all there!
Oblivion Myth WINS People's Choice Metal Band!
Ray, Keith, Randy and Bob would like to express thanks to all the fans the world over who had a hand in Oblivion Myth being named the "People's Choice Metal Band" at the 2013 Music City Mayhem Awards in Nashville, TN.
The Mayhem Awards, put on by Bonnie Neves of Dungeon Promotions are in their third year and serve to spotlight the best talent on the Nashville Hard Rock and Metal scene.
Oblivion Myth had three nominations, Keith Smith for "Best Metal Guitar", his third nomination in a row, Ray LeGrand for "Best Metal Vocal", his second in a row (the first year, then vocalist Sterling Whitmill had been nominated) and "People's Choice Metal".
When asked about winning People's Choice, bassist Randy 'Cowboy' Stepp said, "Man, this band is going places and I am just so proud to be onboard!".
Founding member, guitarist Keith Smith said, "It was a great night and it was so good to have this level of interaction with our peers. It's rare to have so many people from our scene all in the same place and winning People's Choice is such a blessing for this band. Onward and upward!".
Drummer Bob Schultz expressed his gratefulness for the award and gave two enthusiastic thumbs up.
When asked about the award, frontman LeGrand was quoted as saying, "Keith and I being nominated year over year means a lot to us. Being recognized by your peers is always good, but being recognized for your music in Nashville, a city world renowned for it's musical excellence carries that much more weight! Sure, it's the 'always a bridesmaid, never the bride' kinda vibe, but that means we just have to stay young, hungry and beautiful! As for the "People's Choice" category, honestly, this makes up for the other categories one hundred fold. The people's choice categories are the only ones voted on by the fans and therefore are what we care about most. Winning this one has really fueled the Everlasting Fire that burns within us!".
Sanctuary From The Streets - Recap
What an amazing night we had on Friday, February 15th at The Rutledge in Downtown Nashville, TN with InnerSiege and Theocracy for the “Sanctuary From The Streets” event which benefited ‘Heavy Metal’ Pastor Bob Beeman’s “Bridge Bunch” homeless food outreach.
The night wasn’t without it’s challenging moments though. Parking was a nightmare with Kid Rock playing up the street at Bridgestone Arena as well as a number of other high profile events. Ray had to make a last minute dash for supplies when the time came to feed the bands and Keith had to dart out painfully close to OM’s set time to pick up his family since their vehicle broke down on the way!
But, all made it back on time and Oblivion Myth played a blistering one hour set that included their now greatly anticipated intro track and opener sequence which features “Blinding the Darkness” and then straight into one they don’t often play, “Twilight Dementia” off the first CD. The crowed was noticeably wowed by “Everlasting Fire” which features a live acapella opening from LeGrand before they shift into overdrive for the quick pummeling that is “Life”. Things slow and stretch out a bit during the 10 minute epic, “Knightserrant” before the band kick into their two most recent singles, “Between Light and Shadow” and crowd favorite “War Child”. They closed out the set in standard fashion with their pairing of “Inside The Mirror” and “Venom of Vices” which has received an updated crescendo of an ending!
InnerSiege were awesome, also delivering a high power one hour set including their entire “Kingdom of Shadows” CD. There was metal and humor throughout including the “Heavy Metal Hulk Hands” adorning frontman Jeremy Ray that reflected the pounding all received by the dual guitar attack and European influenced rhythm section. And no one will be able to forget the set Theocracy delivered, playing until nearly 2AM which included their entire “As The World Bleeds” CD and a few other choice numbers like “Absolution Day” and the 22 minute epic “Mirror of Souls”!
The fans were amazing, coming from Tennessee and surrounding states; Alabama, Kentucky and Georgia as well as more distant points of origin like Texas, Illinois, Michigan and a group of ladies that flew all the way in from Las Vegas Nevada just for the show!
All the bands did great onstage and off, with plenty of merch being sold. Oblivion Myth moved a number of CDs and SOLD OUT of our T-Shirts completely! The fans not only walked away with a great show and new band merch, but many won fantastic prizes through our fund-raiser raffle!
All in all we raised not only awareness for the plight of the homeless, displaced and hungry in Nashville, but also over $4,000 which will go towards the expenses of serving these folks!
A special thank you to the band members who also took time out of their schedule to feed the homeless under the Jefferson Street Bridge in Nashville the Sunday after the show!
Oblivion Myth CONFIRMED for Pre-Fest Showcase at Warriors Of Metal Fest VI
The Warriors Of Metal have announce that the Nashville, Tennessee progressive power metal band OBLIVION MYTH will return to Ohio after three years to replace Philadelphia female fronted metal band MISTRESS who had to cancel its participation due to the departure of their vocalist.
Oblivion Myth guitarist and founder, Keith Smith states: “Oblivion Myth is excited to return to WOM Fest Open Air as a part of the Pre-Fest Showcase this year. We played WOM Fest III Open Air back in 2010 and had a blast rocking out with so many great bands and fans in Ohio. It’s an honor to be asked to come back in a different capacity.”
Band vocalist Ray LeGrand observes: "The band has been through a series of personnel changes since appearing at WOM Fest 3 years ago. As far as the vocal duties were concerned, with the departure of Sterling Sammy Whitmill, my getting up to speed with the materials and being an all or nothing kind of guy, I did not feel I really owned the material at the time, having had only a few weeks in the band, so I opted for the ‘nothing’ angle and the temporary frontman Raz Wickham went to perform in Ohio in my stead," muses LeGrand. “I was genuinely bummed that I missed out on the opportunity to perform at WOM Fest Open Air. But I suppose good things do come to those who wait because the exciting part of what we have going is that our current lineup is firing on all cylinders with fans responding positively at every show. So we can’t wait to invade the Warriors Of Metal Pre-Fest Showcase and unleash our fury on the northern metal kingdom!”

Oblivion Myth Guitarist Chris Selby Arraigned
Longtime Oblivion Myth Guitarist, Chris “The Tone Monster” Selby was arraigned in Nashville Metro Court on Friday January 4th following his arrest on New Year’s Day 2013 on charges of attempted murder in the first degree. Initially bond was set at $100,000 but court records show this was significantly reduced to $15,000 which is hoped that this may be an early indicator that things may improve for Selby in this situation.
Sources close to Selby have said that Chris has been released and is doing as well as can be expected. The band does not anticipate hearing from Chris directly as it is assumed legal counsel would have advised him not to talk about the case which is standard legal procedure.
Oblivion Myth are hopeful that Selby will be exonerated and this can all be put behind him.
Oblivin Myth to Host "Sanctuary From The Streets" with InnerSiege and Theocracy
Theocracy will headline “Sanctuary From The Streets”, a fundraiser / benefit for Sanctuary International’s “Bridge Bunch” homeless / food outreach.
Nashville-TN, USA : December 19, 2012 – The internationally renowned heavy metal band, “Theocracy” has been confirmed as the headliner for “Sanctuary From The Streets” at The Rutledge Live Music Venue in downtown Nashville, TN on Friday, February 15th 2013. The band’s latest release on Ulterium Records, “As The World Bleeds” was released in the United States on November 21st 2011 and has spawned numerous singles and videos including the video for “Hide in the Fairytale” this past September. Also appearing on the bill will be melodic metal bands “InnerSeige” based out of Peoria, IL and Nashville’s own “Oblivion Myth”.
The event itself serves as the inaugural effort from Nashville Metal Band’s latest endeavor, “Molten Metal” which seeks to bring awareness and support to worthwhile causes in and around the Middle Tennessee area. NMB founder and Oblivion Myth frontman Ray LeGrand says of the event, “I am very excited to see this come to fruition. Myself and OM Bassist, Randy ‘Cowboy’ Stepp are regular volunteers with Sanctuary International’s “Bridge Bunch” homeless / food outreach which provides approximately 4,500 meals per month to those less fortunate in the Nashville area. Additionally, the group serves as a collection and distribution point for seven other organizations who also feed Nashville’s displaced and homeless as well as providing food for 25 families directly. So, it was a logical fit for us to work together in order to bring awareness to the suffering so many in Nashville deal with on a daily basis and to help raise funds to aid in the effort”.
Keeping to the metallic theme, the “Bridge Bunch”, part of Sanctuary International “The Rock N’ Roll Refuge”, is led by former Intense Records founder Pastor Bob Beeman who has been largely influential in the careers of bands like Stryper, Barren Cross, Deliverance and Vengeance to name a few. Beeman continues to consult with many of the biggest names in metal today and has a wildly successful podcast on Youtube (Pastor Bob Daily) in addition to his passion for serving the homeless.
An online auction will take place in the weeks before the event and there are a number of items that will be raffled off at The Rutledge on the evening of the show. All proceeds will be given to the Bridge Bunch to help in their efforts to aid the homeless and hungry.

OM Help Remember Homeless
Oblivion Myth Bassist, Randy 'Cowboy' Stepp and Frontman, Ray LeGrand are regular volunteers serving the needs of those less fortunate under the Jefferson Street Bridge in Nashville, TN. Sanctuary International's 'Bridge Bunch', spear-headed by Oblivion Myth Band Pastor, Bob Beeman helps provide over 4,500 meals per month, serves as a collection and distribution center for seven outreach efforts and feeds approximately twenty five families per month.
This past weekend, the Jefferson Street Bridge was also the site for Nashville's annual "Homeless Memorial Service" remembering the dozens of homeless men, women and children that perished in 2012.
There were many news camera crews onsite, but the best piece we saw documenting the occasion was Nashville's WSMV who aired this piece, which includes clips of OM Frontman, Ray LeGrand singing 'The Lord's Prayer' a capella.
102.9 The Buzz Bash for Kids
THANK YOU to everyone who came out and showed their support last night at the 6th Annual 102.9 The Buzz Bash for Kids. Organizer Don Carr, guitarist for Noisecult said the night was an overwhelming success and that we collected a huge number of toys!
Goon were absolutely amazing and we can see why they do so well on 102.9 The Local Buzz with Tony Stone - Great Band!
Noisecult was awesome as always! Mindsplitter Mike was even lit up (literally) like a Christmas tree. So glad there was minimal talk of he and Ray's "Skull Licking Incident" from the last time they shared a stage...
Piranah unleashed their fury with a mix of classic Piranah and a load of their new material. As always, "I Am" being a crowd favorite!
Oblivion Myth would like to thank Lee Claiborne for running lights and would also like to send out a HUGE THANK YOU to OM Alum, Patrick 'Dr.Ponytail' Nickell for taking the throne in place of Bob Schultz who broke is hand last week. Playing sick after an 8 hour drive from South Carolina to rejoin the Fa\m/ily was nothing shy of amazing!
Next stop? Murfreesboro, TN as we headline the 2012 Fatal Fest on 12/08!
