We've been working overtime these last two weeks!
Aside from the usual twice weekly rehearsals, we had the pleasure of opening the Provolt Harvest Festival. Met some very cool fans, made some connections with a few quality vendors (watch out for cheesesteak and beer trucks at upcoming events!), we were welcomed by one of the nicest darn sound crews out there, and best of all, we were able to pause on many occasions to take in the remarkable greenery (see what I did there?).
We've also printed off our first run of t-shirts, which are available now, as well as some super slick looking business cards. Very nize.
It brings us great pleasure to report that we have secured access to a sonically superior space in which to record our forthcoming album, which includes access to their very nice analog mixing board. We also have an excellent engineer on board, who happens to own a really high quality analog tape machine. If all goes according to plan, we should be rolling tape by early December.
We will also be unveiling our first ever crowdfunding campaign (via Kickstarter) in the following week, as we look ahead into the not-so-insubstantial cost of printing a first run of CDs and vinyl LPs. Stay tuned for more on that....
Looking ahead to November, we have a show in Bend, OR, with our good friends and fellow Medford rock band, Jive Coulis. We will also be playing Medford's Musichead with a couple of very unusual, highly entertaining bands. November is crunch time for us, as will be actively promoting our Kickstarter campaign and rehearsing for our upcoming studio time. Onwards and upwards, always, we shall press on! Huzzah!
What started in February 2012 as our crazy vision to somehow create new music with an old soul has turned into the reality of 13 tracks. All three of us feel this to be some of the best music we have ever created. We are simultaneously elated and exhausted by how quickly this band has come together as a unit.
Last month was a huge success for In Between. We found our stride in booking shows, created a band budget for studio time and album production, designed our first run of shirts and had two great shows we were proud of. This month was huge for the growth of the band as well.
We are proud to report that we have reached over 4000 song plays and 2000 downloads of our first four songs. For the last week Matty has logged into to ReverbNation to find an average of four new fans a day. We were played on three radio stations and had our first band interview from Ivory Harp by Ryan Cox.
At this time of growth and change we wanted to personally thank every one of you for helping increase our fan base and online presence as well as those of you who have made it out to our live shows. Keep watching our schedule as we have some great shows coming up with some killer bands.
Last but certainly not least, the highlight of our entire month was opening for Gypsyhawk. Check them out here on Reverb or Facebook. These guys kick major ass and have one of the best live performances I have witnessed. Pure power on stage with the musical talent to back up the performance. We hear a rumor they might be coming back through Medford and you can bet your sweet asses we will be there (hopefully sharing the stage with them again).
Lastly, keep sharing our pages with your friends. This makes a huge difference for us and the opportunities which we are given. Share like its the last link you will ever share :)
We love your faces,
We been working overtime! Our show schedule is starting to fill up so its time to make some merchandise to sell at our shows. We want to bring you some useful and affordable items in addition to shirts and stickers.
We are currently looking at all kinds of items we think you guys will love. Budget willing we should have some march items by the end of this month or early October.
We have also been talking about our upcoming studio recording and planning that. We have made the decision to record on reel to reel using tape. There is a certain sound that modern digital recorders cannot seem to capture well - so as usual we are going old school!
There is even some talk about a limited number release on vinyl, once our full length album is done.
Beyond this, we are also networking with some great regional and local bands we think you fans will absolutely love.
Expect to see us playing with Jive Coulis, Ol' Mount N' Due, Stereotyped, 8 Dollar Mountain, Sumerian and more...if you have some favorite local acts you would like to see us perform with let us know! We are all about supporting other great acts from the valley.
As usual we will continue to update you as we continue following our dream of making and performing this music. Feel free to drop us a line, or to use the new "ask a question" feature here on ReverbNation.
Cheers! -Matty www.inbetweenmusic.com https://www.facebook.com/inbetweenofficial
We are currently working on scheduling fall shows and beyond. Check out our recent shows we just added on the 15th and 16th of September. Unique and super fun events designed to showcase the music and ensure the crowd has a great time - plus they are both all ages events!
We are planning more dates for the end of September and October. The bands we are playing with are polished and ready to make you their fans as well. Please stay for the entire shows if you come out. Its is important to support all the bands who work so hard to put on these shows.
In album news we have completed most of the writing for our full length release. We currently have 13 tracks completed and two more in progress. We will most likely lean that down to 12 for the final album.
At this time we are attempting to save the funds that will allow us to record on reel to reel. Tape recordings have a vintage warm sound that simply does not exist in modern digital recordings and we feel that will allow us to truly accomplish the classic sound we are going for on our finished album.
In essence, we have the classic gear - now we need to find the classic studio capable of accomplishing the task of making our album sound like it was released circa 72.
As usual a huge thanks to each and every one of you for supporting this dream of ours, and we implore you to follow us on Facebook. You may not know this but Facebook likes are VITAL to up and coming bands in order for them and their work to be taken seriously by those who stand to help us further our music. Facebook likes get us shows we normally might not get, and it helps us to become know by other out of town bands looking to come through and play but needing opening bands to support them.
This music game is crazy these days, but with your help and continued support we believe this music can go far.
Cheers! -In Between
Holy hell folks, what a great show! The crowd was amazing. We gave out 40+ free copies of our EP, drank some great local brews, met some awesome fans, and we may have even participated in a voodoo ritual or three - the details get fuzzy toward the end of the night. But we promise you this: If you guys are not familiar with their music you really need to check out Jive Coulis. Fantastic music, vocals and excellent guitar work - all with a laid back retro vibe. If you dig our style you will love Jive. No to mention these guys throw one hell of a party. Our former drummer Jon even came up all the way from L.A. to party with us at the show. Good times! But now that the show is over, and the kegs are empty, us boys have some work to do (besides refilling the kegs).
Soon we will be releasing our fourth free song "When She Runs Away" as a follow up to our first three tunes. Also, since our 6 newest songs went so well at the concert we have decided to begin recording them right away. For the next couple of months we will finalize recordings for our full length release which we hope to finish by October. Currently the album is untitled.
In addition to this we will be designing and producing merchandise such as stickers, shirts, and more copies of our Restless EP. At the same time as this is happening we are working through several concept ideas for album covers and a stage banner. Lastly, we felt like it was time to start working on a music video. Basically since the songs are written, and our debut show was a success, the real work begins now!
Look for upcoming news about more show dates with us and Jive Coulis, sneak peeks at our various projects, and of course the release of our next song coming very soon.
As always, a huge thank you to all of you for supporting us in living our dream of performing and writing music. We only ask that you share our page with your friends or on your Facebook wall, we cannot tell you how much this helps us. Cheers!
We are currently deciding on a set list for our debut show coming up on June 30th! Here's link to the event page, the lineup will be updated soon-ish: http://www.facebook.com/events/345107508873397/
After some intense writing sessions we are working on perfecting our 6 new unreleased tracks to play at the show. Faster paced than our first few these tracks show a bit more of our rock / swamp influences.
Behind the scenes, we are preparing to release a fourth track for free download very soon after our show. In the midst of all this we are also trying to promote this show. So for those of you still reading please take a moment to share the event page link shown above.
If you're not familiar, take a moment to check out these facebook pages of the other bands performing at this show: Jive Coulis and 100 Watt Mind. You wont be disappointed!
For those of you attending EdgeFest on the same day don't fret! We will be setting up our second show very soon! I also have it on good authority that due to the time frame of this show you can technically make both shows! (For you intrepid die hard local music fans!)
One last note: This show is free and is an all ages show!!!
We are currently creating our second run of EP discs (the first 20 have been passed out to a select group) and this second run will be for 'public giveaways'. Something Matty came up with while pushing his Opposed 1 album - essentially you drive around town, and at stoplights, drive thrus, coffee stands you hand out CD's randomly to people or to drivers with music stickers of any genre on their vehicle. There is just something cool about being handed a new CD by a stranger and being told "if you don't dig it, please pass it on". If any of you would like a copy of this EP, please message us or leave us a comment on our profile. We plan to make a grip of these to give out :)
In other news, we just wrapped up several EP's and sent them out to a few national radio stations, reviewers, and music editors. Hoping to get some additional airplay and a few reviews / write ups.
Next up is another mailout to several influential music blogs, and a second push for reviews from rock / indie band magazines - and an attempt to get onto regular rotation at both Jefferson Public Radio and National Public Radio's Second Stage program.
The goal of this band is nothing more than to get our music out there. We have no delusions of rock stardom, nor are we trying to tour. We just wanna play great shows on the west coast and distribute our tunes across the country, purely for the love of the game - making and performing original music.
Speaking of performing, we are wrapping up our second set of new tunes and should be out playing some dates by July. Possibly even sooner. There has been some "Jive" talked about us being part of a very special event at the end of June...more on that to come.
Lastly, please take a moment to listen to our new tunes, and PLEASE share our music and our facebook page with your friends or on your own wall. This is a huge help to the band. We need your support to keep doing what we love, and to eventually complete our first full length album.
Once again, we sincerely thank you each and every one of you for helping us to live out this dream of making and distributing our music.
What started at the end of February 2012 as a risky decision to leave our comfy rock/metal genre and stake out into completely unexplored territory has now blossomed into 5 completed tracks with four new songs in progress.
For those of you who are unaware, Mark our drummer has only been playing with the band about four months. As a band we are tighter now, and as people we have a better understanding of one another and how we interweave as musicians. At this point we all fell very confortable in our new skins. Going from a rock / metal band to this new retro rock vibe has been quite a fun challenge.
We all love this new sound and we each are expanding all the time in our knowledge of old school music and our skill levels on our own instruments. This new sound allows us to push our old boundaries in the rock genre but also is stretching our skills in new areas.
When asked what we now sound like - we usually respond by describing our new tunes as a blend of everything we love from the classic rock, soul and motown tunes of the 60's and 70's. We decided to keep the band name In Between because once again we find our music hard to categorize within a single style of music. Its like a retro rock rainbow with colors from many genres riding atop a unicorn of pure floor stomping soul, or like a drunken David Hasselhoff finding the perfect cheeseburger.
We released these three new tunes for the first time this morning, and the feedback has been absolutely amazing. We want to sincerely thank each and every one of you on our friends list and all those who took the time to listen to them - and especially to those of you who took that extra step and shared our songs on your wall. We cannot tell you how much this helps us gain new fans. As merely a very very small drop in the growing local music scene we look forward to earning new fans and seeing many of you at our shows later this summer. Maybe even drink some whiskey with a few of you bold souls.
With your help we will make a name in this town.
So for now, please take a moment to listen to our new tunes if you haven't yet, and again PLEASE share our music and our facebook page with your friends or on your own wall. This is a huge help to the band. We need your support to keep doing what we love, and to eventually complete our first full length album.
We're off to work on the new batch of new tunes for our album. And again, we sincerely thank you for helping us to live out this dream of making this music.
Big news! After some deliberation we have decided to start a new chapter in the direction of this band. In Between has always been a blend of hard rock and metal since we began. We are now writing new rock tunes with a serious soul and swampy southern influence. We felt that the valley deserves something new that hasn't really been done. We are very excited to show off this new sound and are focused on getting some new tunes recorded and added to our page here. Also after an extensive search for a drummer, we are excited to announce that we have found a perfect fit. We welcome Mark Anderson to In Between! Thanks for sticking with us and stay tuned for the rebirth of this band. - Matty, Dave, and Mark
