Artist Bio

Hailing from Northern Michigan, Griffin began his career in the music industry at the young age of 13. Since that time, the singer/songwriter has spent the last two decades entertaining folks of all ages in pubs, coffee houses and festival concerts throughout the Upper Midwest and Florida. Griffin has performed alongside national acts including the Violent Femmes, Chicago, Bad Company, Head East and Martin Zellar. Currently based in Orlando, Griffin performs solo acoustic shows throughout Central Florida and also plays bass guitar and sings with "Swerve", a rock and alternative group.

In his solo act, Griffin sings and plays acoustic guitar and harmonica. He chooses not to use pre-recorded musical backing tracks, but plays with a unique, slap-style guitar technique that sounds as if there is a percussionist slapping out beats behind a curtain somewhere. Griffin’s voice has been described as a cross section of Rob Thomas, Robert Plant, and Joe Cocker. His repertoire consists of over 150 songs from classics by the Beatles and Bob Dylan to contemporary artists like Dave Matthews and Jack Johnson, along with his own creations.

In 2004, Griffin released his debut solo CD “Turn the Light On”. The 11 song disc is currently available worldwide through all major music sites including “itunes”, “cdbaby.com”, “napster”, “rhapsody”, etc. Track #7 “Barfly”, has received radio play in over 30 states. Griffin is currently in the studio putting the final touches on his second solo project. The disc titled “The Long Haul” is slated for release in 2012.
