Music Biography
Shivpreet Singh (Shiv) was trained in Indian classical music and bansuri (the bamboo flute) by Late Pandit Raghunath Prasanna of the Banaras Gharana. He trained under Pandit ji for approximately 10 years in Delhi. Shiv studied musicianship, harmony, and composition at University of California, Berkeley and completed a minor in music in 1996. His musical style has thereby evolved from the confluence of raags from Indian classical music and harmonies from the western classical.
In Shiv’s first classical performance in 1990, he shared the stage with Ustad Rashid Khan. He was awarded by former President Gyani Zail Singh for his inaugural flute recital. Shiv is an avid ghazal singer, and has shared the stage with ghazal great Ghulam Ali. His first album 'Ardaas' was the first album from a major record label in India featuring a North American-based artist.

Shiv holds an MBA from the University of Chicago, Graduate School of Business (2002) and a bachelors degree from University of California, Berkeley (1996). is a biotechnology analyst based in San Ramon, California. He is currently Managing Director for New York-based investment bank Morgan Joseph. In 2007, he was ranked #3 among US biotechnology analysts by Starmine/Forbes magazine.
Shiv lives in San Ramon, California with his wife Dashminder, two kids, Gobind and Jania, and his parents. He is a direct descendent of Bhai Nand Lal, famous Persian poet and the poet laureate in the court of Guru Gobind Singh.
