Artist Bio
deep Snapper was born on September 6th, 2006 in the basement of a little pizza joint in Denton, TX. Paddy and John had been writing songs together for the better part of 15 years up to that point and decided that a lot of the ideas John had penned around that time were worthy of forming a band. Chris Smith (Squelch's) was a mutual friend who found himself a drummer without a band and so the trio was formed. Their first record, "Who Defines Profanity?", was a collection of both new and old ideas from as far back as 1992. "A Drowning Man Can Pull You Under" was the follow up written and recorded in 2007, followed by a brief midwestern tour. Not wanting to slow down, deep Snapper immediately began work on their third record called "Into The Ugly" which was released in the Spring of 2008. Paddy took a temporary position overseas in mid 2009 so in the Spring of '09 the band scrambled to record all of the songs it had ready. This became the 18-song "Pi on the Side" LP which was released in the summer of 2010. Each record grew progressively more layered in sound which made faithfully recreating them live quite challenging. Enter Aaron Bartz. Paddy played bass for Aaron in the Fort Worth band Tame...Tame & Quiet for a number of years. Aaron sat in as 2nd guitar when deep Snapper covered Television's "Marquee Moon". He heard in a casual conversation that Snapper was contemplating taking on another full-time guitarist. A phone call the next day sealed the deal and Torn Bazaar was born. In the winter of 2011, deep Snapper met for the fourth time at the Echo Lab in Argyle, Texas to record their fifth record with Matthew Barnhart and created their latest release, Bipedal Disorder. deep Snapper is currently assembling the songs for their next record, Deities of the Antihistamines, which is loosely scheduled for release in the summer of 2012.
