Artist Bio

Initially formed in 2008 to provide music for a Christmas party at St. James's Palace, Phoenix play a mixture of jazz, Latin jazz and pop standards performing songs made famous by Ella Fitzgerald, Stan Getz, Louis Armstrong and Nina Simone, amongst others. .. Phoenix have been performing in and around Ipswich over the last two years but all members have been involved in the local music scene for much longer. Vicky sang with the popular Latin jazz outfit BossaSuperNova, as well as providing backing vocals to MamboCombo alongside Peter who played percussion. Ian, Adam and Diz have all performed in various bands whilst Dave has toured internationally with various groups, orchestras and big bands... Phoenix's sound spans a wide range of jazz styles from the romantic ballads made popular by Sarah Vaughan, the Bossa Nova of Gilberto/Getz, the swing of Harry James' big band through to more recent pop tunes by Duffy and Norah Jones...
