DEBORAH GRAY writes breakthrough jazz originals, which run the gamut of fresh swing tunes through to innovative nu-jazz grooves. Not content to just re-hash jazz cover songs, Australian writer and singer Deborah Gray travelled to New York in the 1990's to study jazz and theatre. There she formed both a classic jazz trio and an experimental jazz quartet and performed in many of NYCs top clubs, including The Supper Club, Blue Note, Tatou, Bradleys, and Maxims. Peforming with and winning the respect of many of the 'young lions' of the New York jazz scene, Deborah has performed with some of the brightest young jazz stars in the business, including Christian McBride and Roy Hargrove. Her original jazz tune "Feelin Fine" (featuring ROY HARGROVE ON TRUMPET) has since won a bronze medal in the International and South Pacific Song Contest, which has over 70 countries participating, including UK, USA, Australia and Japan) .... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ............................ After returning home to Australia, Deborah was asked to include two of her self-penned tunes on the soul/jazz/groove compilation CD "Undertones Volume3" which became one of the countrys best selling Australian nu-jazz albums and had the local music press and DJs in Australia and the United Kingdom singling out Deborahs fine vocals and compositions as being two of the most exciting tracks on that highly acclaimed album. She has composed songs for Olympic Gold Medalists Torvill & Dean's world tour and DEBORAH GRAY'S jazz/groove EP 'Still Got a Thing' became JJJ radio's CD of the month in it's first week of release. Jazz Fresh CD will be released in late 2011 will include more of the New York recordings, latest Aust. jazz fresh tracks, as well as featuring some of both country's finest jazz and beat players. .......
