Finally!!!      BLACKLIST ROCK MUSIC VIDEO LAUNCH   -   7 NOVEMBER 2009

Four months ago South African rock band “ BLACKLIST ROCK ”, decided to cap off their self recorded independently funded debut E.P. album with a Music Video. With a lot of help from friends and fans alike they enlisted the help of Liam Davies and his crew to shoot & direct their debut Video. Now after four months, and a lot of hard work, the band’s finally ready to launch the video and share it with all their BLACKLIST people!

Saturday the 7^th of November will see the band invading their hometown only for the second time in the last 6 years! This will coincide with the opening of HATS Lounge a new up-market exclusive venue situated at 52 7^th Street Springs. Local bands “Ransom Note” and “Broadway Screamer” will be sharing the stage with Blacklist Rock. This promises to be one of the biggest events of the summer, tickets are limited so book yours early!

 Update July\August 09

 

 

So what happens when you stick a bunch of musicians in a dim practice studio for a couple of weeks? They end up writing seven new songs for the FULL BLACKLIST ALBUM due to start recording December \ January….. It seems the two month break BLACKLIST took was exactly what they needed. The band is extremely excited about the direction the songs are going in and are currently polishing and perfecting the fruits of their labor. The next three months will be busy for BLACKLIST, writing a few more songs and obviously playing a few gigs to try out the new material live. Speaking as one the band cannot wait to perform the new stuff live, so that should give everyone a good reason to get down to a BLACKLIST gig soon…

Regarding the Music Video this should be done very soon so keep your eyes and ears open because the launch party is going to be a huge event. BLACKLIST is planning to organize it for beginning November……bound to be an epic party. They will confirm dates and venue ASAP. Including A limited edition collectors item E.P. with the video bundled onto the disc all in a special sleeve only available at the launch….

June\July 2009

 

We find ourselves in the dead of winter pondering what to do next since live venues have become an endangered species……….So what do you then as a band that feeds of playing live? You record a music video that’s what!!

BLACKLIST enlisted the help of video producer Liam Davies to assist with the filming of “FORGET” on a cold July night that had the band (and crew) up for 30+ hours of straight filming. Since the whole album was recorded, produced and funded completely independent….the video is no different and also funded by BLACKLIST and their incredibly supportive sponsors. On this note the band would also like to thank Jackie for making herself available to appear in the video and Michael from Jamison Mobile for allowing them to invade your house, and turn it into a set. Much respect goes to Liam and O’Neil for their hard work and effort in making the video. Anyway BLACKLIST will let you know when the videos done, and obviously they are going to have one massive video launch party!

We have some behind the scenes footage and picture’s taken by everyone that will be posted on youtube and our website later this week, will send out updates as soon as it’s on!

All inspired by the icy depths of the cold the band have started working on new songs, due to be recorded in January……Hoping all goes well you might have a FULL BLACKLIST ALBUM bigger and better in your hands next year this time.

BLACKLIST ROCK NEWS MAY 09

What a month it’s been, seems nothing changes in rock & roll it can lift you up knock you down to size, but hey it’s all Rock.

First things first, the E.P. launch was a huge success and the band would like to thank everyone who was there (and those of you that couldn’t make it but were there in spirit) all 300 people thru the door made it a memorable night. As always the band completely threw themselves into a explosive set that included two fresh songs that will be on the full album….. more about that later. The cold May night was warmed up by local new band “Ransom Note” and extremely professional Rockers from Edenvale “Sunburn”. BLACKLIST would like to thank these guys for helping them make the E.P. Launch night a success. Since the E.P. is properly released now you can buy a copy by sending a e-mail to fans@blacklistrock.com and the marketing team will organize you a copy. The E.P. costs R80-00 and includes shipping/postage. You can also download the individual tracks by next week, we will post A update concerning this next week. Now on to the bad news…… Blacklist had to cancel two upcoming shows due to Liaan (Vocals) falling ill and being out of action for the larger part of the month. He feels better now and started practicing with the band last week again…. He should be fine and completely starved to gig again by the end of June. The band took this time to work on new material for the full BLACKLIST album that the band will start recording by October!

Also Blacklist would like to offer their condolences to the Family and friends of local Springs music legend Dave Allan who sadly passed away. He was a big influence on a number of the band members and a mentor in some respects. He and his massive talents will be missed.
