Biography:

Crossingpoint are four guys from Durban, South Africa who play positive and punishing hardcore. Founded in 1998, our sound has developed with member changes and responses to what we see in the scene around us. Today we best describe our sound as a passionate and often dark brutal synthesis of hardcore, metal, and punk with a relevant message.
Hardcore has slowly being embraced by a wider audience, and many bands have watered down their message and the lifestyle to suit the listener. Where it used to be about an uncompromising message in response to societal problems, these days it seems to mostly be about the sound, with any sort of message being secondary.
Crossingpoint have stayed true to our roots by playing creative, energy-driven music with a message that inspires application.

Brandon, Ray, Ross and Richard are straight edge, and advocate a cruelty free way of life.

The world is never going to change over night. Real change happens in the minds and hearts of individuals who can go on to effect others. crossingpoint’s urgent and honest message dealing with issues such as sexism, loyalty and personal responsibility, is aimed at reaching the individual in a thoughtful way and helping them to see the world for what it truly is.

“For almost a decade Crossingpoint has been at the forefront of the hardcore scene in South Africa. Their positive sounds and awesome stage presence have inspired many kids to do the windmill and all sorts of other funny dance moves which those hardcore kids love to do. These guys are awesome and they’re easy to relate to on stage and off. A friend of mine once said that when you sing about something you love it is much more powerful than singing about something you hate, and being passionate and real about their faith Crossingpoint have spoken the truth, in love, into many people’s lives.”
- Utami Rostoll, Deputy Editor - Truth Magazine

It’s hard to go to a Crossingpoint show and leave unchanged. Theirs is a power and a passion that few bands consistently achieve.

Press:

“Self Assassination is an album that’s uplifting and passionate, and I can’t help but smile and sing along when I listen to it. “We’ll be there every second, every step!””
Dexter Douglas - BluntMag

“On this album they manage to switch suddenly between sections that hit you like a sledgehammer to dreamy breaks with impassioned singing, and it all flows together in a way that just makes sense. It’s a nice break from the usual chug and screech, dime-a-dozen metallic hardcore bands out there.”
Dexter Douglas - BluntMag

“Never content to go with the flow and always willing to speak out against what is wrong with this world, Crossingpoint have been building up listeners with every word and every throbbing chord.”
Dexter Douglas - BluntMag

“Ever since I watched my first Crossingpoint show some six years ago they’ve always had one overriding and unchanging quality – urgency.”
Dexter Douglas - BluntMag

“Crossingpoint have managed to put together a really ‘big’ album. The sound is full, the passion is relentless and it’s one of the few albums I’ve ever heard that makes me feel like I’m at a show. They’ve put a lot of energy into this release...”
