“SHADOW THIEVES – Space Between EP
(Independent)
Interesting, entertaining and beautiful
Space Between is a highly enjoyable listen. In Dinosaur Skin, vocalist Matt Buckley, asks the age-old question, “Did dinosaurs ever have skin?” While in the following track, Mystery, he asks, “Why did Pandas choose black and white?” All the hard questions as you can see, but interesting to hear how well he has worked them into the songs. Never Seen Today is almost too close to perfect. To describe it in one word I would have to use ‘beautiful’. The closing track, The Right Time, seems to sum up the preceding tracks perfectly, heavy and very attractive to the ears. Shadows Thieves have a sound that mixes really old Incubus with structures that would be loved by Muse fans. Definitely worth the price of the EP and admission to their next show.”

““So much thought is put into every aspect of all the songs,” Letizia offers of band’s approach to the task of making the record. “Getting the right vibe of music to suit the lyrics has been a major focus for us. Some days we would write songs with specific intentions, and other days ideas would just pour out naturally. There's no doubt that there's diversity in the lyrics, but I guess that just displays our perception on life.”
Is there an overall thematic structure to the record? Letizia balks at being compared to Pink Floyd, but admits there were overarching songwriting concerns.
“It's definitely not a concept album. But there is an underlying theme of putting life under a magnifying glass. Our own personal hurdles are highlighted, as well as our feelings towards the more obscure things life offers. I guess if you had to label the theme of the CD, 'the beauty of reflection' would be pretty close to the mark.” ....readmore”

“Shadow Thieves are one of these bands. On six tracks they give you everything from rock (Dinosaur Skin, Promise), roots rock , atmospheric rock, jungle rock, to progressive rock.
The opening track Gardens consists of almost all of the elements mentioned above; it is a good opening track that gives you a sum of of what you can expect from ‘Space Between’. It’s some steady riffs, intensive rock, jungle/roots rock, some pretty cool sound effects and proper vocals that suit the music well!
Never Seen Today was the first song that first caught my attention. The instrumental part (rock, atmospheric rock, piano interlude) of this song is just amazing, and the way the vocals interact makes this one of the highlights.”

“These are quality tunes on your page! I like how Never Seen Today goes through all its different sections - the breakdown in the middle and piano bit just before the final chorus in particular add a decent amount of depth. Promise, on the other hand, starts by sounding a bit 80s before becoming a combination of Arctic Monkeys (verse) and Razorlight (chorus) with a touch of Maximo Park but just flavours spicing up a great sound for me”

“STEALING THE SHADOWS
Have you ever wondered what happened to that sick Gold Coast band Enacio? Well last year they went and changed their name to Shadow Thieves and with this change of name came a newfound maturity in their songwriting as well as the addition of keyboards to the band’s line-up which has augmented the sound greatly. They have a bunch of cracking shows on the horizon, firstly they play an all ages, drug and alcohol free show at the Albert Waterways Community Centre with support from Pam Pam Pam, The Cairos, Fairchild Republic, Sanza Rose and November Fall on Saturday Jun 12 from 3:30pm before they head up to the big smoke for a show at the Step Inn on Friday Jun 18 with none other than the newly reformed Full Scale Revolution and Jerrico and then back down to the Coolangatta Hotel with the same line-up Saturday Jun 19. Get along and see how this band has developed and, while you’re at it, rock the hell out, won’t you?”

“For Gold Coast rock outfit Shadow Thieves, the evolution continues with the change of name from Enacio to Shadow Thieves in 2009, a new found maturity in their songs and the addition of a fourth member to the band Cassidy Wilson on keyboards.
"The past year and a half has been a big learning curve for us" states Shadow Thieves front man Matt Buckley, "Bringing in Cassidy has been a great move towards our capability. We have tested the water and it works for us. Now we have some great shows coming to deliver our new line up to the public for both 18+ audiences on the Gold Coast and Brisbane with two all ages gigs on the Gold Coast.
Performing BDO (under the Enacio banner) and Fresh Fest last year gave us the chance to watch bands like COG, The Butterfly Effect, Spiderbait and rock legend Kevin Borich close up side of stage and this helped us realize where we had to be.... read more
