JeConte’s sophomore release ‘Down by The Bayou’ produced by Anders Osborne, showcases the bluesy soulful vocals and harmonica of JeConte backed by a ferocious blues rock band featuring New Orleans legend Anders Osborne, veteran rocker Wally Ingram, Bayou Bassman Carl Dufrene, and San Francisco Slide Virtuoso Chris Haugen & long time JeConte writing partner and Guitar Man Matty Cohen.
Down by the Bayou dips deep into the roots of the Bayou, while simultaneously preserving the NorCal Rock n’ Roll and West African influences of JeConte’s style. Recorded upon his escape from the coup d’etat in Mali at Dockside Studios in Maurice Louisiana in 2012, JeConte went directly from the war torn West African country and the Mali Blues sessions, into the heart of the Bayou to carve out a record that inspires deep soulful southern blues, and begs the listener to ask for more.
Special thanks to Anders Osborne for keeping it real and bringing the light and to Dockside Studios for opening their home and studio to us, we are forever grateful. This album is dedicated to love, for without it, we have nothing…
“In January 2010, JeConte joined legendary musicians on the main stage of the Festival in the Desert: Cheick Tidiane Seck, Habib Koite, Mangala Camera, Will Calhoun (Living Colour), and Charlie & Adama Oramé of Fantani Toure’s band. JeConte also played with Mangala Camera, Boubicar Sidibé, Terkafte, and Timbuc 30 while in Mali. "Having JeConte perform at the ‘Festival in the Desert’ was magnetic, not only did he light up the stage when he played, but his energy at the Festival was highly inspirational and contagious. We look forward to having him, and his band, back next year to energize the Festival.” - Phillipe Angers & Manny Ansar - Founders and Directors - Le Festival Au Desert”
