Biography:

In 2001, Zimbabwe born Adam Metcalfe moved to Cape Town, South Africa & fell in love with Psy Trance. By 2004 he had began to produce & perfect his sound, striving for the best quality production in high tech trance, keeping it fun, psychedelic & a little bit twisted. With the release of his 2008 album, “Artelligent”, his unique offbeat & forward-thinking sound captivated festivals and parties worldwide, sparking a non-stop whirlwind of international gigging. Today he has solidified himself as one of South Africa’s most prolific EDM producers, ranking 5th in DJ MAG’s 2012 Top SA DJ’s. 2013 sees Headroom locked away in his studio, working on his highly anticipated 2nd album.

Press:

““Dance-floor packed, Headroom takes the stage and my god, does he deliver. A set like no other i’ve seen on his, consisting of deep yet fast-paced bass lines that founded a more techno/prog set with the slight element of psy. “We need more people like him in this world” - I remember telling my friends, as Headroom climaxed his set perfectly for 2 solid hours.” ”
Adam Lifshitz - http://www.nobucks.co.za

““Due to the change in Lineup times and confusion, I had no Idea that my favorite act, Headroom had been shifted to a day set. I forgot to mention how upset I was when I woke up thinking I missed his set on Saturday night. The musical genius played a magical 2 hour set, that in my mind was by far the best one all weekend, actually wait, maybe all season? I don’t know, but something about his music makes me want to reach for the heavens. And this set in particular had so much energy, coming from him as well as the crowd. Muddy fiends made constant trips to the stream carrying 5 litre water bottles and splashing the crowd as Headroom whipped out some banging drops that had me smiling from ear to ear. For a DJ who has only released one album of 9 tracks, he sure does know how to pull out some surprises, and bring new things to the table every time. His newer tracks are mind blowing, some of which I even recognize from his Rezonance NYE Festival set”.”
Dominic Irla - Psymedia Cape Town

““I cannot forget those 3 days of fun, sun and possibly some of the sickest beats one could ask for. What really blew my mind was the final day (as it always does). It had all been built up with 16 international acts into the final 2 hours of our very own Headroom. I think I speak for every one that was there that this was one killer set. If you haven’t seen him before, then take a look at this video – it will give you a perfect view of why we all love Headroom’s beats so much. And when I say all of us, I mean all of us 12,000 “freaks”.”
Craig Stack - My City By Night
