About
‘Distant Shores’ is the fantastic debut album from The Ox, a UK based songwriter and producer with an extremely promising future. This electronic, down-tempo album is definitely one for those days when you really need to chill out and unwind. The beautiful guitar melodies alongside the timeless strings and electronic layers, instil peace and a sense of nonchalance that ease your worries and calm even the busiest of the minds.
A newcomer to the down-tempo scene, Ox seems to be going from strength to strength. After having tracks included on a few compilations, he then had success with downloads in Japan via Toryumon. He has also managed to maintain his place in the top ten ‘UK down-tempo charts’ on MySpace for over six months now….and counting!
The man behind it all is Paul Hogg, a musician with many talents. He was given the nickname Ox at college because of his large frame and stature and it has stuck ever since.
His versatility as a musician is clearly demonstrated in ‘Distant Shores’ as he played all instruments on the album himself, as well as executing the recording, production and mastering. Heavily influenced by the likes of Moby, Craig Armstrong, and Groove Armada, he always aims to evoke passion and emotion in the listener.
As a producer, remixer and musician, Paul is also working on several other projects as well as The Ox crossing over several different music genres. He is more than happy to do remixes and work with solo singer/songwriters.
‘Distant Shores’ is available to download from the usual outlets and there are also a limited number of signed CDs available from The Ox page on MySpace: www.myspace.com/oxtunes
