When was the last time you heard a band that has that Colorado jamband sound that was fronted by a rapper?

Hailing from Springfield, Missouri, Opie Hicks and The Elements bring you their funky, and somewhat ambient sound. They have a propensity to cross genre boundaries, drawing from a range of traditions including tight, sophisticated blues, funk, jazz, rock, and reggae.  Fused together with body-rocking, hip-hop.  A sound that gets music fans dancing so hard they can feel the floor move beneath their feet. A unique and original style that is fresh and entertaining.

Touring throughout the Midwest since '03, the Elements quickly gained a local following due to it's unique sound. The Elements shared the stage with national acts such as Tech N9ne, Steve Ewing of The Urge, 2 Live Crew, Afroman and The Phunk Junkeez. They also won the 2005 competition of the Missouri Valley College Battle of the Bands.

Opie Hicks, an old school, battling emcee, has the kind of skills and stage presence that prompts people to ask “Who is that guy?” He's just the type of performer who has to be in front of people doing what he loves.

Opie toured with Everlast in 1998 and with Vanilla Ice in 1999. While living in New York he recorded an album with D Moet producing, who was the multiplatinum producer for Eminem, Nas and Notorius B.I.G., among others. In 2001 he began working with Falonte Moore.  Mr. Moore produced hit songs for Destiny's Child, Michael Jackson, and Tyrese, etc. At that time Opie was voted one of the Top 50 unsigned emcee's in Hits magazine.

But a live band project was something he always wanted to do. In February 2003 Hicks put together The Elements:  Bassist Nick Archambault, guitarist John Anno, and drummer Justin Latshaw. With all the pieces in place Hicks says “It's just a matter of time before we take the music world by storm”
