Old Friend was started in Portland, Oregon by Seth Neefus. In 2007 he was living in a household with many musicians, friends, and artists. He documented the music that they created together with an old tape player and within a few months there were stacks of tapes all over his bedroom with such a varity of sound on each one that he compiled them into a sort of musical sketchbook.
