"B." the D.J. / Press

“It is my pleasure to provide this testimonial to Brendan Schaper and his company, "B." the D.J. I have had the pleasure of observing Brendan in action first hand at several of our school dances and events. His work ethic, passion, and professionalism are second to none! Brendan's energy and enthusiasm for entertaining help contribute to the overall positive culture and climate of our school. His service at our annual Homecoming Dance, Bonfire, Columbia's Got Talent, and tailgate activities continue to be phenomenal and add that special element of excitement for those in attendance!”

“Music has always been a part of who Columbia High School student Brendan Schaper is. “It has been a lifelong deal for me,” he said. “I was in a car seat when I was 3 years old and I would be beating the drums on it. So (my parents) decided to get me drum lessons at about age 5.” At 14, Schaper decided to turn his passion into a business and invested in disc jockey equipment. Now, as a junior, this 16-year-old has his own business he calls “B the DJ.” His business slogan is “You ‘B’ the DJ” to emphasize Schaper’s constant interaction with the crowd. Schaper uses Apple’s Remote application, which allows people in the crowd to request songs through their cell phones. He also records video of the events along with a camera he can set up at his DJ booth for people to make a video memory of the event, much like a photo booth. “I really like the fact that I can do something for people that they enjoy and I can see smiles afterwards,” he said.”

“It is gratifying to receive recognition for one's accomplishments in the community, and celebration of life's special occasions is simply more meaningful when shared and enjoyed with others. Your friends at State Bank of Waterloo wanted to offer their congratulations and let you know they thought you were NEWSWORTHY!”
