Twitter_icon_for_status: So far a bit underwhelmed by Komplete10's specs.

“...But when Null Device draws from Depeche Mode on Suspending Belief—particularly on album highlight “Notes From The Fallen”—it sounds like a B-side that never was from Mode’s 2005 effort Playing The Angel. The tastefully reverberated vocal melodies of multi-instrumentalist Eric Oehler rise and fall over a pulse of word-tinged rhythms and synths that soar and bounce behind a thin layer of what sounds like sitar...the warped, shuffling synth hooks of “Blow My Mind,” the punchy, string-laden “Inkblots,” and the entrancing sequencing and Bertrand Russell-alluding lyrics of “Teapots Orbiting” round out Suspending Belief quite nicely, offering a refreshing perspective on a genre that’s overshadowed by dance-party kitsch.”

Null Device - DJ Bashert World Dance Party Tue, Sep 16 - 8pm - $7 Null DeviceDJ Bashert World Dance Party Null Device has been making buoyant electronic pop music for 20 years. Along the way theyve borrowed Bollywood songs, Arabic and Indian percussion, 9th-century Sufi poetry, and small string ensembles; but at the core theyve always been a pop group writing smart, catchy electronic songs. While theres an undeniable retro element to the music the band members all share an abiding love of 80s synthpop its been fused with current dance-pop styles and modern production.Their last US tour netted them slightly over $16 of pure profit, so theyre clearly doing something right.Their most recent album, Perihelion, was released in July, 2013. Featuring songs of wry wit (The One Who Came After Me) and songs of heartbreaking sincerity (Torchlights), club stormers (The One Who Came After Me) and cinematic arrangements (Metaphysic), it is their most polished and inventive work to date.
