North Columbia "With roots spreading from here to New England, Chapel Hill band North Columbia have backgrounds ranging from funk-metal drumming, to classical violin, to folk rock and progressive sources. But that was then, half a lifetime ago, before chance and circumstance brought these lads together to give music a new go. What they've got now is new, informed by stories and passions of love lost and found, of soul searching, and of musical experimentation. NoCo brings an energy of musical escape and catharsis, flavored with emotive vocal styling and nuanced instrumentation. Each of the players has walked through the tutelage of countless influences to arrive at something patchworked and original, familiar yet innovative. There is something Southern to be found here and there in the compositions; other sounds are totally placeless. The songs move through dynamics of force and calm, to engage the ears in unpredictable ways throughout the performance. The band plays shows all around central NC, in Durham, Chapel Hill, Carrboro, Saxapahaw and Hillsborough. A frequent opener at Southern Village (Chapel Hill) Movies on the Lawn, they attract and entertain a diverse audience. North Columbia is: zach pekar (guitar, vocals, violin), garrett christian (lead guitar, vocals), will bettmann (bass, djembe), walter gaudet (drums)" http://www.reverbnation.com/northcolumbia Rose Gray band "The Rose Gray Band serves up original americana music penned by the incomparable Rose Gray. Rose's songs draw from her life experiences, her lively imagination and lofty interpretation of Simon and Garfunkel. They paint vivid pictures of characters and images that will stay with you. A native of Massachusetts, Rose spent her early music career playing solo at local coffee shops and farmers markets. She now calls North Carolina home where she has played as part of the duo, Quiet the Voices, and now has assembled the Rose Gray Band. Blending various styles including rock & roll and jazz, the band consists of Rose Gray on vocals/guitar, Dan Chegash on drums, Alan Lenarcic on upright/electric bass, Scott Mathias on electric guitar, Fred Dimmick on mandolin/ukulele and Linda Chegash on vocals/percussion. Together they share their appreciation for uniquely crafted music and provide a backbone of uptempo energy that will leave you wanting more. Stay tuned…the music will keep you close." http://www.reverbnation.com/rosegrayband
