Bio

Nicolette Lagace was born and raised in the Ottawa Valley. Stepping on to the stage for the first time at age 6 as a soloist, and beginning her musical studies at age 9 with Royal Conservatory, she began composing her own music at 12 years young. Now almost 20 years later, her music is a delightful mixture of powerful keyboard sounds, gripping lyrics and heavy rock, complimented by her dominant vocals and versatility of her multi-talented band members.

All of Nicolette’s songs which she has written are filled with her own keyboard riffs, being the lead instrument in her band rather than the more commonly heard lead guitar. Nicolette explores and expresses love, loss, peace, depression, victory, humility, spirituality and humanity.

About

Alternative Progressive Keyboard-Driven Rock

Singer/Songwriter/Keyboardist Nicolette Lagace was born and raised in the Ottawa Valley. Stepping on to the stage for the first time at age 6 as a soloist, and beginning her musical studies at age 9 with Royal Conservatory, she began composing her own music at 12 years young, and would share her innate talent through grade school, summer camps, high school and churches, with whoever would lend an ear, and many did. Now almost 20 years later, her music is a delightful mixture of powerful keyboard sounds, gripping lyrics and heavy rock, complimented by her dominant vocals and versatility of her multi-talented band members.

Influenced by a wide range of female artists including Bjork,
Alanis, PJ Harvey, Evanescence, The Cranberries, Annie Lennox and Sinead O’Connor, Nicolette’s musical style and songwriting are still uniquely her own. “Proposal”, a popular track from her debut album “Truth and Time”, takes you right into the heart of her passion for her own marriage with a true, piercing Gothic feel.

All of Nicolette’s songs which she has written are filled with her own keyboard riffs, being the lead instrument in her band rather than the more commonly heard lead guitar. If this isn’t enough to get your attention, imagine it blended with the punch of unique flavors from Alex’s flute or accordion, Andrews aggressive six string bass playing, and Tom’s heavy drum style, all readily adaptable to her ever-growing, dynamic waves of songwriting. Lyrically in her own pieces, Nicolette explores and expresses love, loss, peace, depression, victory, humility, spirituality and humanity. She places great importance on the overall message in songs as if they were stories in themselves.

Nicolette’s live shows are known to be stunning to unprepared audiences, with the emotional intensity flowing from song to song. At a recent battle of the bands competition, she silenced the crowd with her opening song and then brought them alive with her second, showing her ability to capture their attention right from the start.

“Rocker, Nicolette Lagace, from small town Ontario, was a refreshing change. The band had great instrumentation and stunning vocals”.
~BODOG Music

“Nicolette sang and played with a raw authenticity that is lost in the wavelengths of all too many modern performers.”
~Ben Wright - Singer/Songwriter

“She delivers a performance unlike others bringing the energy to a feverish pitch leaving the audience wanting more!”
~Christine Booth – Café Ole
