NewType is a two man, Manga inspired, Electro-Industrial-Space-Rock vessel based in Leicestershire in the UK. The name NEWTYPE is from a Japanese anime/manga series called MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM. In GUNDAM, NEWTYPE's are humans who have evolved ESP and other paranormal abilities due to mankinds migration into space. It's also got giant robots in it - which they like. They have been likened stylistically to NINE INCH NAILS and SOULWAX (Though they have also been described as sounding like MOTORHEAD crossed with DURAN DURAN much tho their amusement) though they believe this is more because they share their mix of rock and electronica than any real similiarity. NEWTYPE believe that music is - and always should be - an ideal, fun and personal means to express, communicate and share emotions, experiences and ideas about the environment, society, and the human condition in general. Their primary shared influences include THE CURE, KILLING JOKE, QUICKSAND, FAILURE, BIG BLACK, TOOL, NINE INCH NAILS, KYUSS, HELMET, BUTTHOLE SURFERS, PRONG, AFGHAN WHIGS, DEVO, ALICE IN CHAINS, WIRE, and SOUNDGARDEN and many more - though their individual tastes are as eclectic and diverse as each others.
