Neal Peterson is a bowl of pop culture armed with a guitar and an addictive sound.

Hailing from the Midwest, he calls the horizontal land his home. While having played professionally for nearly eight years, his music has taken him everywhere from the open and spirited plains of North Dakota to the fervent and vibrant streets of New York City.

Neal Peterson’s sound is not easily summed up. While he has been compared to artists such as Damien Rice, Jack Johnson, Beck and Bright Eyes (to name a few), his style is all his own. In short, his music may be classified as Alternative Acoustic Rock. As a singer/songwriter he creates his own concoction of styles including rock, progressive, folk, indie, emo, and more. He’ll let his sound simmer in your ears and bring you to the conclusion that it has something to offer from all things fetching in music.

The new album, “Riot in Luxury” (2007) is the artist’s smorgasbord of creativity and genius. The album is a reservoir of dynamic instrumentation and thematic lyrics that near an intoxicating level. Neal Peterson focuses on a dynamic, progressive approach to his music that The Forum called “a self-aware send-off for well-earned hangovers and harping about hegemony.” MTVU applauded the same work, which has now solidified his undeniable talents.

The start of his authentication with music came with his first band, Curious Yello. In a matter of four years, Curious Yello emerged from the marrow of America, and found themselves greeted with a brawny fan following, a sponsorship from a national beer company and an album entitled “Wish” (2001) which was finished under the production of a two-time Grammy nominee. Shortly after Curious Yello disbanded, Neal Peterson started his solo career with a stronger focus on the acoustic guitar.

“Songs for the Whisky Convention” (2003) was Neal Peterson’s solo album debut. It proved to be a popular success among his then intimate following. “Songs for the Whiskey Convention” was an experimental and creative remedy for the singer/songwriter and became a springboard of success for his future projects.

While studying as a Graduate Student, Neal Peterson’s music and live performances took a surge of energy influenced greatly by Art and Design. His guitars incorporate phrase sampling, which layer into complex musical compositions, and his lyrics continue to be raw, unabashed and delicately arranged. His sound pivots on the perfect combination of unconventional approaches and enduring timelessness. The High Plains Reader said Neal Peterson is “more than just an entertainer,” he’s a “lyrical craftsman with a purpose.”
