Nama Rupa is a soulful musical energy from the mid-west with a home-base in Madison WI. The band was formed in 2006 by active members Paul Reinke, Jason Himebauch and Tyson Klobes after many months of meditative musical processing at a converted practice facility in a south side warehouse area.
After a successful introduction, Nama Rupa was quickly picked up by local press and dubbed as a "reggae hybrid" offering a fresh blend of conscious, reggae dub with strong funk and hip hop unde...

Reggae has always had a place alongside political activism. This year, Madison's Nama Rupa released an album that contained our activist anthem of the year, "War Crimes." Built around a sparse bass line, the song thrives on vocal harmony that delivers a hard-hitting message: "War crimes, all around/You lie, keep us down/All us people who are much smarter than you will now rise."
Paul Reinke, Jason Himebauch and Tyson Klobes formed Nama Rupa six years ago. They're known for blending other genres into their Jamaican influences, including funk and hip-hop.
