TRINITY SESSIONS PRESENTS CARLA LIPPIS AND THE MARTIAL HEARTS WITH THE FALLS. MUSIC 6.00PM DOORS 5.30PM This will be a great double bill with CARLA LIPPIS AND THE MARTIAL HEARTS and from NSW THE FALLS whose latest recording has been getting great reviews and they are doing the national tour with Passenger. Carla and her band are relatively new but there is experience aplenty that is attracting plenty of interest in the music world. Their new 6 track EP is a belter and they were invited to play at this years APRA Song Summit in Sydney alongside some of Australia’s best. Imagine if Nancy Sinatra and Screamin Jay Hawkins had a child. Now imagine that child grew up listening to Italian love songs and deep-south country ditties. Now imagine a cloud shaped like a Martial Heart. Fun isn’t it? Carla Lippis and The Martial Hearts deliver stories of dark rendezvous and heartache, with clever threads of playful undertones. Beautifully penned lyrics sung with maturity over a simple but well constructed fusion of country and soul. The connection between Melinda Kirwin and Simon Rudston-Brown, who are The Falls, on stage is palpable. Their emotionally fuelled live performances are compelling to watch, sometimes heartbreakingly so, and have garnered reviews such as "intoxicating melodies and gorgeous harmonies" and "(their) strength lies in their ability to convey raw emotion and wisdom in their lyrics". Their brand of indie folk is centred on intimacy: it isn’t overproduced, overwrought with complex metaphors, or swallowed up by a wall of sound. It is is simple harmonies, lyrics, and bountiful amounts of sincerity. It’s a pair of artists wearing their hearts on their sleeves.
