About
The very first time little Mookie Jones heard a rap song was in a recording studio on New York's lower east side. He was sitting on the knee of a young rapper in the prime of his career known as Kurtis Blow. Meanwhile legendary songstresses Phyllis Hymen and Alysen Williams prepared their food.
Oran "Mookie" Jones II is the son of legendary Def Jam R&B artist Oran "Juice" Jones. The then one-year-old Mookie seemed fascinated as young Big Daddy Kane performed "Aint No Half Stepping" in the sound booth.
Years later, at age 15 Mookie entered his first major rap competition. He was confident, geared up, and well prepared. And it showed. He won first place in The 2003 National "Roc tha Mic" competition sponsored by Roc-A-Fella Records. Performing on the same stage that Hip-Hop Rap Star 50 Cent had just rocked only minutes before Mookie mounted the stage, and knowing that another Hip-Hop Rap Star "Jay-Z", was to come up right after him, Mookie showed that the apple, or perhaps in this case the "Oran" doesn't fall too far from the tree.
The following year (2004) Mookie won first place in the SOURCE BATTLE in Houston Texas where he is the new H-Town's freesyle champ. "The Prince" is what he calls himself.
Mookie Jones is now 17 and is starting to run the street as the mix tape/dvd Prince.
Mookie is the youngest freestyler to ever win a national battle.
