Guru made an impact full presence during the early 90′s and throughout the remaining decade in the Hip Hop community. From the 7 Gangstarr albums recorded with his former DJ/Producer – DJ Premier to Guru’s very own Jazzmatazz projects ( Hiphop/Jazz fusion conceptual albums.) Guru’s clear precise delivery fused with knowledge of spiritual messages allowed his music to be received openly by a vast multiple audience and garnered him street credibility. On February 28, 2010, Guru suffered a cardiac arrest and later fell into a coma. After a long battle Guru died April 19th, 2010. “When Rap City Was Dope” is paying respect and appreciation to Guru’s music. In his honor, this event is dedicated to the music & videos of Guru’s career; which will be Video Mixed LIVE on multiple flat screens & a projector screen by Varras Tower.
