Bio
Mike Thomas has been involved in or surrounded by music in one form or another since age 4. Beyond and beside the music, he's also an established photographer and multimedia production pro. Mike has worked with and for The Walt Disney Company for many years in those areas. But first and foremost is his love and passion for music and the arts. Mike has said on many occasions every time he tries to make some plan to do something else, God gently kicks him back in the ring saying 'you're not done yet'. :) And Mike has never had a problem with this. He always manages to return 'home' to his roots: The Music!
About
Mike Thomas has been playing piano since age 4, guitar since age 14 and singing since age 18. For a good portion of his 30 year career, he’s written, recorded and produced CD’s and toured approximately two thirds of the U.S. Since about 1996, Mike has been steadily gravitating towards simplicity in his productions. Translated: Taking full advantage of modern technology, he’s returned to a pure, acoustic / natural sounding type stage show, but with a high tech edge.
His new show, "America: Life And Times," is nothing short of high caliber professionalism, yet very personal and intimate as his rapport with his audience is extremely interactive. He manages to open himself right up to his audience, all the while maintaining just enough anonymity and mystique to give the performance a professional edge that draws folks in and leaves them wanting more. Henceforth, his following has grown to large proportions. Among other elements, this new show consists of a non-intimidating but potentially powerful sound system, an acoustic guitar or two, a digital piano, some simple stage lighting and a few stage props. But the real difference or focal point in this brand new show is the live sound. Mike is utilizing some of thee most sophisticated sound equipment. No screeching vocals or obnoxious distorted electric guitars. Just pure, natural sound as if the show was being performed intimately in your living room.
"America: Life And Times" is a very different type of show. Distantly resembling a one man play, it makes reference to all that was once god in this country and could be again. The motto of this new show is in fact, " ... it's not gone - it's just forgotten sometimes ... " That one line, simple as it is, pretty much sums up the foundation of this new show. The grand finale is a tug at the heart, interactive piece that pays tribute and recognizes each and every Military Veteran in the nightly audience and has the entire room on its feet clapping and singing along (and perhaps fighting back a tear or two). "America: Life And Times" is really the simplest, purest thing, yet hard to describe. You need to come see this concert and FEEL the energy and karma that emanates from the stage to the audience and then back again. Please check out the "America: Life And Times Promo Video in the playlist atop this page to get an idea what we're talking about here.
Mike has performed at way too many venues to list them all. But just to show versatility, experience and talent level, a few of the notable venues include Walt Disney World, The Good Day Show, dozens of four and five star resorts around the U.S., a few local cable TV stations in New England. Mike’s favorite and best received concerts have been at the scores of RV Resorts and campgrounds across the country a well as RV rallies (FMCA, Coachmen, Gulf Streamers, Air Stream, Good Sam and more). He’s also performed at a few dozen Foundation For The Arts type shows and dinner shows throughout New England and the Mid Atlantic region.
Mike’s influences are again large in number but to name a few: Neil Diamond, Elton John, John Denver, Gordon Lightfoot, Bruce Springsteen, Garth Brooks, George Winston, Floyd Cramer, Yanni, Jim Brickman, John Tesh (and lots more) have made the deepest impression on Mike’s artistic creativity!
Thanks for taking the time to read this mini bio.
