“The Bright Future Foundation was founded to help victims of domestic violence and has quickly become a leading advocacy group for non-violence. VL Fanai is a beautician who arranges monthly visits to women's shelters and homeless shelters, bringing dozens of volunteers who help with free make-overs. The Bright Future Foundation's current goal is to get as many people as possible to take this non-violence pledge: "I pledge to be non-violent, respect my body, and the Earth." They have created thousands of Earth-tone wristbands with the pledge. Local musician Mike McGill heard about the group and wrote a song about them, which he debuted last week at the Alpha Project in Downtown San Diego, in the middle of a B.F.F. "Day of Beauty." The song is called "I Pledge."”
“We are spoiled with many winery/vineyard properties in Temecula, but the cooler temperatures, ocean breezes, and sense of adventure beckon us to wander on down. I had the recent honor of attending a media event at Orfila, and while I love to write on and on about chefs and food, winemakers and wine, sometimes the images from an evening are more compelling than any words I could conjure up. The video features the song “Southern California” by Mike McGill who entertains Orfila Winery guests on a regular basis. His acoustic surf folk pop rock style is a perfect match for this laid back venue.”
“McGill’s songs are easygoing and optimistic. His sentiments as well as his music are straightforward. These mostly uptempo tunes are delivered with a very back-to-basics approach to songwriting and arranging, driven primarily by the acoustic guitar and McGill’s vocals.”
“Headliner, Mike McGill and his band (bass player Jared Gianquinto and drummer Jim Woodruff) thrilled the audience with foot-tapping songs that delighted the entire family, young and old. The kids were instantly drawn to the stage to listen and dance to the mesmerizing songs.”
“Mike has an extraordinary sound with smooth vocal and guitar tracks inspired by artist like: Jack Johnson, Paul Simon, James Taylor, Jim Croce, and others.”
“Make yourself a tropical bevy with those little paper umbrellas, sliced pineapple, a curly straw, and ice cubes. Then cheer up, have a nice day, and pop in this Mike McGill CD.”
"Mike makes it look and sound so easy. His voice, his style and his attitude puts laid back smiles on faces. Never stop playing."
