“Here is a hard workin pro-- a great person in the music biz”
“Back in 1975, Waylon Jennings asked the musical question, "Are you sure Hank done it this way?" In this case, yes, I'm sure. This is Hank Williams the way he was done back in the 40's and 50's, an acoustic album with guitars, harmonica, light percussion, sitting around with this classic songbook, picking and grinning. It's all Mike in his basement studio. No polish, no need.
Fredericton's Bravener is a veteran performer with a deep love of old country and western and rockabilly, best known for his award-winning tribute to Elvis. His Elvis show has taking him to Memphis and acclaim from the Estate, but he's also had a parallel career with his own sounds based on the classics, and as it turns out, he does a mean Hank, too. In this case though, he's not doing a version of the original, but instead just enjoying playing these great songs.”
“We hired Mike Bravener (& Tom Cat Corner) to perform for our Mother's birthday party. She has always been a fan of Elvis and the old time rock and roll of the era so Mike was a perfect choice. His Elvis tribute was spot-on! One guest commented that she had paid good money before to see an Elvis tribute and this one blew it away. He really worked the crowd, involving young and old and really got the joint jumping with lots of Elvis hits. For their second set, Mike and the band rolled out songs by Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and a host of other artists of that era. There wasn't a dud in the bunch!
I would not recommend hiring Mike if you want to sit down all night! Book Mike only if you want to spend the entire night up on your feet dancing! You'll be glad you did!
Hey Mike, Thank ya! (Thank ya vurra mush!)
“I will start by thanking Mike Bravener and his band for a very special launch of his new CD, (COVERIN HANK) . The CD is great and the song choices work very well together. I so much enjoyed the drive home after the show with his tribute songs driving with me. As good as the disk is there is no way you could capture the feeling in that room as he gave thanks for all the support he has received in his life's journey. A passion like I have seldom seen spoken so sincerely the room hung on every word. He made everyone feel like an old dear friend. A man of GOD with a sense of humour, reciting life experiences in song. I had the pleasure of photographing Mike and his band, TOM CAT CORNER at KINGSWOOD just last week. I cannot express enough how excited I am that they will be a huge part of (FREX ROD 2013)”

“Canadian rockabilly groups being quite rare, welcome the arrival of this group of the former New France (they come from New Brunswick ). When you see the quickdraw Mike Bravener (vo, gt rac) Aaron Bravener (bat) Jamie Guitar (bs), Everett Scott (gtr ground) and Peter Rioux (pno), we would not think a rockabilly quintet / R'n 'R. Once again the clothes do not make the monk. Of the six titles, five are composed, the only cover being that of the Straight A's in love Cash, which rocked sd well. Basically, we can say that the first part of the CD (the first 3 titles) is more rockabilly, rock'n'roll over the second, but the two genres intertwine too. Good news: Mike is planning a second CD plus I am behind this100%”

“There are few Canadian bands rockabilly, as the arrival of this group of New Brunswick is a godsend. Yet the quintet draws does not suggest a
Group rockabilly / rock'n'roll. Once again, appearances can be deceiving. Of the six titles, five are composed, the only cover being that of "Straight A's in Love" for Cash, which rocked as well. The first 3 songs are more rockabilly, the last three (the CD has 6) are more rock'n'roll, but the two genres intertwine as well. Good news: a second CD, the more so, is already planned, the draw of it is already depleted. B.B.”

“ROCKiNʼ’ BiLLiES : Sinner

“Fantastic. My friends Ann Marie and Janice couldn't have enjoyed it more. I don't know where you get all your energy from but I guess it has to be a higher power. You just keep going and going and one thing I've noticed, whether you're getting paid for your time and talent or like to night, not charging, you still put on a superb performance as if you were being paid a fortune. Thank you”
