About

MicWrecka brings a brand of fiery, furious emceeing not heard since the days when hip-hop was about righteousness and fighting the power. When not busy clubbing lesser emcees to death on the mic, he also crafts the majority of beats for his group The Rebel Scum, creating dark and gritty sounds that are as thought-provoking as they are infectious, which indubitably played a part in making them an underground favourite. But he is not one to keep his talents within the group, MicWrecka co-executive produced Familyboy's EP and made beats for Jin Hackman, both members of his crew Rogue Squadron, along with several other artists outside of the crew.

If there's one thing MicWrecka loathes more than wack rappers, it's the current state of hip-hop. Bourgeois rappers with delusions of thuggery, bling and shutter shades, rims and getting low, Soulja Boy's confouding popularity, MTV. All these only serve to feed his wrath. Finally hitting his threshold  of tolerance for (c)rap, MicWreck bestows upon himself the role of The Wrecktifier, becoming both wrecker and rectifier of hip hop. This is no mere portmanteau branding though, MicWrecka is dead set to wrecktify what he sees as the nadir of hip-hop – with or without his crew.

Come March 2009, The Wrecktifier takes album form. While this is MicWrecka's first attempt at a solo outing, the LP  is nevertheless as abrasive and confrontational as his group work in its politics and battle raps. Yet this is contrasted by more intimate subject matters such as love and reminiscences of life. These two disparate traits find cohesion in MicWrecka's unrelenting honesty. Backed by hard-hitting beats not out place on a Def Jux or Wu-Tang release, machinegun-like vocal delivery and lyrics with more syllable counts than the most verbose of prose, MicWrecka promises to destroy and rebuild the hip-hop scene. After all, there must be chaos before order comes.

The Wrecktifier is produced by MicWreck himself, crew mates Phrozt, Skware-1 and Illson, Coda Massive of DnB outfit The Works, Azrael of XS-One, and Malaysia's most renowned turntablist, DJ Fuzz. With guest appearances by Proximas, Illevate, Illson, Dose2, hip hop legend Lady Dee (from Naughtius Maximus), Ghetto Republic, SSK, Jin Hackman, Altimet, Figure of Speech, Apocalypse Dawn, Wordsmanifest, HQA, and Ash G.
