Bio
born in Brooklyn. raised in South Carolina. At 12, while listening to the radio with his dad, he said "I want to be a musician." began writing his own songs at 13. Moved to Athens, GA on his 18th birthday. began playing shows there. When a film-maker offered to send him out west to shoot a film in Portland, OR. He decided to go, but eventually decided to move back to his birthplace. In NYC he played shows and shopped his demo around a bit, but with New York-sized debts, he returned to Portland. He recorded his first full-length record. Secrets and Lines in 2006, and all copies offered for sale at a single record store sold out within six months. '07 brought Names & Numbers. living (for now) in Portland.

Michael the blind is/was Michael Levasseur. Born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Westminster, SC this singer/songwriter has done it all, musically speaking. From weddings, beauty pageants, and even a funeral once (all with the help of his early education in classical music), to the occasional D.A.R. picnic (as part of a folk duo), to large, outdoor rock shows, smoky rock clubs and coffee houses (as a solo artist and with several bands), not to mention a brief stint as the lead in a doo-wop group, and some musical theater as well. Michael has entertained audiences far and wide.
Currently residing in Portland, Oregon - Michael is still writing songs
utilizing his skills as both a vocalist and instrumentalist. Ready to
perform any time, anywhere, and more than willing to travel. Michael the
blind is there for you. All you have to do is listen....
